First Bethlehem ~ MM55 & FF15

I made this card to play along with Merry Monday #55 and Fab Friday #15.  I LOVE a tic tac toe challenge, so I couldn't resist playing along.  I chose the go straight across the top....
Animal/Designer Paper/ Ribbon.  I bought the Come To Bethlehem set before Christmas but never had the chance to make any cards with it.  This was my chance.  The camels in the image are my animals.  My designer paper is from the Well Worn paper pack and I used just a little snippit of ribbon to top off the copper button.  I also wanted to play along with Fab Friday because I think I've only participated in one of the challenges over there.  I've been an admirer though!

I started by stamping the camel image in Soft Suede and used chalks to add the blue sky and sand.  I've seen other cards that added glitter to this image and I knew I wanted to do that too.  I think it gives it an extra special look.  I stamped and embossed my sentiment in Early Espresso EP and layered the banner.  I also bent the banner and gave it a wavy look.

Here's a list of all my supplies....
Stamps: Come To Bethlehem
Paper: Soft Suede, Early Espresso, Well Worn DP, Vanilla
Ink: Soft Suede, VersaMark
Accessories: Chalks and sponge dauber, Early Espresso EP, Fancy Swirl Frame EF, Copper Button, Soft Suede Taffeta ribbon, Gold Glitter

Fav Combo! ~ DD46 & FM103

Good Saturday morning everyone!  I'm in love with this weeks color combo at Dynamic Duos!  It's the 5th Saturday of the month and that means you get to choose the second color!  The first is Primrose Petals.  I used the sketch from Hand Stamped Sentiments Sketch Challenge 156, too.
One of my all time favorite color combos is pink and navy, so that was a no brainer for me.....although, if you've looked a my last two blog posts, you may see a little bit of Primrose with other colors.  I needed to make a get well card the other day, so I thought I should incorporate this weeks combo.  I liked it alright, but it wasn't Primrose and Midnight Muse like I had originally planned.  Then, I saw some scraps laying on my desk.  The black and white designer paper looked soooooo good agains the Primrose, so I put together a card using it.  I liked it OK, but it still wansn't my first idea.  I just HAD to make one using Midnight Muse as my second color, and I'm glad I did.  I love it! When I look at it, the colors together are so pleasing to my eye!
I created this card a couple of days ago, because as designers, we get to see the color combos ahead of time.  Imagine my suprise when I found that the challenge over at The Friday Mashup 103 was to use lined or gridded paper plus distressing on your card.  My card matched right up with the challenge without even trying!  It's kismet!!!

I started this card by cutting out a flower in the Print Poetry DP with my Island Floral Die.  I inked a couple of French Foliage stamps with Crumb Cake ink, along with the bird image from Silhouette Sentiments, and stamped them right on the flower.  I stamped the bird image again on Midnight Muse, but the bird out and popped him up with a dimensional.  I distressed the flower by sponging and crumpling it up.  The flower center is a scrap of Primrose cut from the Blossom Party die and a 5/16" vanilla brad.  I layered the flower on a Print Poetry DP oval, with a paper doily and some ribbon and trim underneath.  I sponged the doily with Crumb Cake ink first, but it wasn't getting a dark enough color for me, so I brought out the brayer and layed the ink on with it.  That achieved the color I was looking for.  For the background, I had a scrap of retired Newsprint DP, stamped it with more Crumb Cake inked French Foliage stamps, sponged it and ran it through the Big Shot using my Lacy Brocade EF.  To finish everything off, I added a scrap of Midnight Muse Print Poetry DP to the torn off corner.
Here's a list of supplies.....
Stamps: French Foliage, Silhouette Sentiments
Paper: Primrose Petals, Print Poetry DP, Newsprint DP
Ink: Midnight Muse, Crumb Cake
Accessories: Island Floral and Blossom Party dies, Oval Framelits die, Natural trim, Primrose Petals satin stitched ribbon, Paper Doily, 5/16" brad, Lacy Brocade EF

School Daze Birthday ~ STB11 & FM103

Todays card takes in Seize the Birthday #11 (Masculine) & The Friday Mashup #103.

The Friday Mashup is honoring tax time so we are to use lined or gridded paper and mash it up with some distressing.  The interpretation for the Seize the Birthday sketch could go in any direction....I love that!  I chose to go with the Chalkboard Technique again, which I love!  I think this is what is called subway art, a mix of different fonts and images.  I really like how it turned out!  I had a fun time going through all my stamps to choose diffent birthday images.
I chose to play off the colors in the notebook paper, which is from the retired Just Add Cake designer paper pack.

The Happy Birthday script at the bottom right is from On Your Birthday.

Here's a list of my supplies.....
Stamps: So Happy For You, Word Play, Birthday Bakery, Carry On, On Your Birthday
Paper: Marina Mist, Real Red, Basic Black, Just Add Cake DP
Ink: White Craft, Black

Fabulous For You ~ TSOT111

This is yet another card that devloped out of scraps on my desk.  The black oval is the negative of a previous project and that's were I started.  I browsed through sketches and thought TSOT111 was a good match!  I stamped the swirl from Everything Eleanor onto a scrap of First Edition DP and layered it under the black frame.  Next, I stamped the flower from Fabulous Florets onto watercolor paper and embossed it with black EP.  I colored the flower using a really fun watercolor bleed technique seen here.  After the image was dry, I cut it out, spayed it with some shimmer mist and placed on the frame with a dimensional.

For the verticle panel on the card, I wanted to do something other than a standard rectangle so  cut two panels with one of the Adorning Accents dies.  I bent the edges up a little for some extra dimension.  Lastly, I added ribbon, a sentiment banner and some pearls to finish everything up.

Here's a list of supplies....
Stamps: Fabulous Florets, Everything Eleanor, Itty Bitty Banners
Paper: Very Vanilla, Primrose Petals CS & DP, Black, First Edition & To The Nines DP, Watercolor
Ink: Primrose Petals, Pretty in Pink, Bravo Burgandy, VersaMark
Accessories: Primrose satin ribbon, 1/4 black ribbon, Vanilla seam binding, Black EP, Shimmer Spray, Bitty Banners die, Pearls

Get Well Skyler ~ RS56

This card was made especially for a brave young lady who is having some medical issues.  I just wanted her to know we were thinking of her and perhaps give her a little chuckle.  I used Retro Sketches 56 to help me out with this card.

I wanted to use my Howdy set from Close To My Heart.  It's so cute and has some fun sentiments to go with the images.  Even though the main image is a cow, I wanted to make the card a little girly, so I did that by adding feminine accents.

I think the words on the inside are my favorite!

Here's a list of supplies.....
Stamps: Howdy
Paper: Primrose Petals, Black, Basic Gray, Vanilla, Scaringbone & Howlingtooth DP
Ink: VersaMark, Gray, Blushing Bride, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Black, Primrose Petals

Fancy Field Flowers ~ DD45 & SSSC180

Good Saturday Morning everyone!  Dynamic Duos has beautiful, monochromatic color combination for us this week.  Pretty in Pink & Regal Rose.

I used Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 180 to help me along with my card for this week.
I hadn't used my Field Flowers set in a while and decided to go with it!  I also decided to add in a neutral of Crumb Cake.  I stamped the flower stems on a piece of First Edition DP, stamped the flower heads on vanilla cardstock, cut them out and attatched them to the stems.  I curled up the edges of the flowers a little to give them some dimetion.  I also stamped the flower center on vanilla, cut them out, sprayed them with a little shimmer spray, and popped them up with dimentionals.  I distressed the edges of the designer paper, sponged it, and layered it on some Crumb Cake.  For the background piece, I ran my brayer over my crumb cake ink pad and rolled it right onto the Vintage Wallpaper EF.  I placed a piece of vanilla in and ran it through the my Big Shot.  Voila!  A textured background with a little color.  I love that technique!  A few other accessories in the form of ribbon, buttons and sentiment tickets complete my card.

Make sure you hop on over and check out all the other amazing designs our team has come up with this week!
Here's a list of my supplies....

It's Your Day Marigolds ~ RS55 & CQC181

This card is for Retro Sketches 55 & Colour Q Challenge 181.  I've been wanted to stamp with blue colors lately and havn't had the chance until now.  I like the combo of blue and yellow, and it looks so cool with the addition of  black.  I don't have any Brilliant Blue or Brocade Blue, so I used Pacific Point and Marina Mist.
I used a set from Close To My Heart called Flower Pot.  I've had it for a couple years and this is the first time I've used this image.  It's cute though!  After I decided on a stamp, I went to my paper stash and chose the theme of polka dots.  I love the Polka Dot Parade DP.
I stamped the flowers and pot on watercolor paper, colored it with a blender pen and markers and cut them out.  I layered them on a piece of white that I embossed with the big dot EF.  I popped the flowers up with a dimentional.  The flowers were topped off with some rhinestones.

Here's a list of supplies....
Stamps: Flower Pot (CTMH)
Paper: Pacific Point, Marina Mist, Daffodil Delight, White, Watercolor, Polka Dot Parade DP
Ink: Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point, Marina Mist, Stazon Black

Owl Always Find Joy ~ FMS78

I made this cute little owl card for Freshly Made Sketches 78
I didn't exactly flip this sketch, but just kinda rearranged it a little.  My scalloped strip is at the bottom, as well as the sentiment, and the small strip is at the top.  When I saw the sketch I knew I wanted to use my owl builder punch and make it look like the owl was peeking out of a hole in a tree.  I feel like I've achieved that result, but in a cartoonish sort of way.  Anyway, I really like the way it turned out.  The flowered tummy especially tickles me!  For the color scheme, I knew I would be using some sort of brown for the "tree" and the rest fell together from the scraps on my desk.   My only regret with this card is that I don't have any owl saying to go along with this cute little feller.  I may have to shop around and find some.  I know there are several stamp companies out there with a variety of different owl stuff.  For now I had to settle for a fun font saying from the old set Polka Dot and Paisley.

Here's a list of my supplies....
Stamps: Polkadot and Paisley
Paper: Primrose Petal, Chocolate Chip, Crumb Cake, Print Poetry DP, Woodland Walk DP
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Owl Builder punch, Bird Builder punch, Oval die, Linen thread, Neutral button, Adorning Accents EF

Chalkboard Birthday ~ DD44 & FM101

Happy Dynamic Duos Saturday everyone!  It's black tie week again with the duo of So Saffron and Black....ribbon is also the dessert option.

I decided on two criteria before I made this card.  I would have to use the of-the-moment chalkboard technique and I also had to encorporate the big label die from Appothecary Accents.  It just so happened that while I set that criteria for myself, The Friday Mashup had chosen chalkboard as the challenge for the week!  How lucky!
I'm calling this my more is more card.  I just couldn't stop myself.  I would add something and think it didn't quite seem finished.  Finally I settled and now that I look at it I wish that I had added a more simple bow or maybe just a tie to the bottom of the die cut.  Oh well.  It is what it is, right!

Make sure you hop over the the Dynamic Duos blog and check out the other designers creations!

Here's a list of supplies:

Ink: Craft White, Black, So Saffron

Welcome Spring! DD43 & SSSC179

Good Saturday morning everyone!  It's Dynamic Duos time again with a springy combination of Pool Party and Lucky Limeade.  For this card, I also used a great sketch from Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 179.  I think I mentioned in my last post that I would be using this sketch again, and here it is! I see it's designed by fellow DD designer Vicki Burdick.  I really love it!

I started by stamping an utra-springy stamp from Inkadinkadoo in versamark ink and embossed it with Early Espresso EP.  I used markers to color in the image.  After it was all colored I painted over the flowers, eggs and butterfly with Frost White Shimmer Paint.

I cut the image out with a Labels Die and sponged the edges with Crumb Cake ink.  Then I concentrated on the rest of the card.  I added a scrap of Crumb Cake cardstock that I ran through my Lacy Brocade EF to the bottom of the card and topped it off with a strip of Crochet ribbon and Lucky Limeade punched ribbon.  A bit of Lucky Limeade twine, tied in a cute little bow, pulls the whole thing together.  The last thing to do was add the triple banner accent out of crochet ribbon, and Pool Party & Lucky Limeade designer paper.

A few dimentionals to pop up the main image and some pretty pearls arranged in the corner finish my card off.  This one went to my mom who celebrated her 63rd birthday during a big blizzard that hit us here the other day.  This little card reminds us of what we have to look forward to!
Don't forget to hop on over and check out what the other Dynamic Duos Designer have made!

Shiny Butterflies ~ SSSC179

I made this card for Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 179.  It also fits into Create with Connie and Mary 242 using Raspberry Ripple, Primrose Petals, and Summer Starfruit.
2013 Thursday Challenges-005
I loved this sketch the moment I laid eyes on it.  I've been on a layered flag kick lately and this was just up my alley.  You could do so many cool things with this sketch and I'm sure everyone will!  I can't wait to see what turns up in the gallery link!
I started with the butterflies from the Kindness Matters set.  These were actually made to go on another card, but they weren't working for that, so I set them aside for another time.  I stamped them in Stazon Black ink, colored them with markers, cut them out and then oozed Crystal Effects on each one.  I like the 3-D effect it gives.  The Primrose Petals circle was another scrap I had laying on my desk.  I added a vanilla scalloped circle that I ran through the Big Shot with my Square Lattice EF and secured the butterflies on it with mini glue dots.  I stamped one of the Elements of Style images on the Raspberry Ripple card base in Primrose ink, then layered on a Primrose piece that I had embossed with my Chevron EF, added the fun banners made for the Print Poetry DP, and put on the little strip of Summer Starfruit cardstock tied up with vanilla string.  The last thing was to add the Thinking Of You banner.  This card came together very easily, and I love it when that happens!  You will definitely be seeing this sketch again from me!

Here's a list of supplies.....
Stamps: Curly Cute, Kindness Matters, Elements of Style
Paper: Raspberry Ripple, Primrose Petals, Summer Starfruit, Very Vanilla, Print Poetry DP
Ink: Stazon Black, Summer Starfruit, Primrose Petals
Accessories: Crystal Effects, Square Lattice & Chevron EF, Vanilla String, Scallop Circle die

Colorful Sorrow ~ CTD231

Well, this is an unconventional sympathy card, but oh well!  I wanted to play along with Color Throwdown because it's been so long since I participated in a challenge over there.
I've needed so many lately and this one will go to the family of an older woman who lived a long, happy life, so I think it will be appropriate.
I used bleach to stamp on the crumb cake background, but it's hard to see in the photo.  As usual it looks much better in real life.  Bleaching on Crumb Cake brings out a So Saffron color, so I thought that would be perfect.
I've also decided that the shabby chic-ish look is one of my favorites to create.  I love the torn edges, sponging and crumpled paper.

Here's a list of all my supplies....
Stamps: Thoughts and Prayers
Paper: Melon Mambo, Crumb Cake, Vanilla, So Saffron, Print Poetry DP
Ink: Pear Pizzaz, Crumb Cake, bleach
Accessories: Designer Frame EF, Oval & Scalloped Oval punches, Floral Fusion die, Designer Builder Brad, So Saffron brad, Natural Trim, Melon Mambo Grosgrain ribbon

A Splendid Plane for NAC35

This fun little card is for Nacho Average Challenge 35.  Last week I had told myself that I was going to play along with the nachos this week no matter what.  When I saw the sketch I was stumped.  It took a lot of thought before I finally came up with something that I liked.  I'm really pleased with the outcome, too!  Here's the kicker...I've missed the deadline AGAIN!  I really need to get that all straightened out.  This is the second time I've done that with the Nachos now.  Bummer.
