Happy Thursday people!  Today brings another Create with Connie and Mary Challenge!  We have a fabulous sketch for you to play with this week.  

 I used my {Celebrate Today} set.  What a tremendously fun stamp set! I love it all done up in these bright colors.

I added some Dazzling Details to the polka dots for a little sparkle.  FUN!

Rusty Good Thoughts ~ CMCC69

Happy Wednesday everyone!!!!  We've got a FUN challenge for you this week over at Colour Me.  There's two color combinations to choose from!  You get to pick team Tara, which is Hello Honey, So Saffron and Cajun Craze, or Team Hayley, Cherry Cobbler, Rose Red, and Coastal Cabana.  What a kick this is gonna be!  I can't wait to see which team everyone chooses.

I'm on team Tara, obviously.  I chose to go in a simple direction.  The color combo, combined with the flowers and font sort of send off a late seventies/early eighties vibe.  It takes me back to my childhood.  We had a couch and loveseat that had a floral pattern in these colors.  Does anyone else remember this point in time when everything was rust and yellow?  

Don't forget to take a gander at the other ladies creations...they are wonderful, and so different!

Whitewashed Bloom with Hope ~ CCMC352

It's Create with Connie and Mary's Thursday Challenge #352! This week's challenge is a soft a pretty color combination....Wild Wasabi, Soft Sky, and Basic Grey.

  First, I did the whitewash technique on the flowers for my main image.  I colored the flower head with my Soft Sky marker and blended it with my blender pen.  I colored the stems with my Wasabi marker.  

I used my brayer on the Beautifully Baroque background.  I inked half the bayer in Soft Sky and the other half in Wild Wasabi and brayered right up the middle of the cardstock (after it was embossed).  The Soft Sky seam binding ribbon, pearls and little peek of doily all work together to make the card look delicate.

You Did It Star ~ CMCC68 & SSSC265

Good Wednesday morning!  It's Colour Me time once again!  This week is a bright and cheerful color combination.  Night of Navy, Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry and Lost Lagoon.  I cannot wait to see the idea that everyone comes up with!  

I also used the sketch from Sweet Sunday Sketch 265. 

I used a couple different techniques to achieve my card.  First, for the acrylic block watercolor, I stamped some of the challenge inks directly onto my clear block.  I then held it at arms length and lightly misted it with a spray bottle filled with water.  I stamped the block directly onto Whisper White cardstock.  The look is a nice watercolored effect.  I used that piece to cut out the star. 

 The other technique I used was the Bouncing Brayer (the Crushed Curry layer).  I had recently seen this technique used on this card by Claire Broadwater.  I thought it was kinda cool and something I'd never tried before.  

Like I said at the beginning of the blog post....I'm so excited to see what everyone creates!

Sweet Zoo Babies ~ CCMC351 & SSC99

Hello!  Today is Create With Connie and Mary's Thursday Challenge and it's sketch week.  We have a very unique one for you this week.  I hope you'll find some time to play along!

This sketch was not only challenging for me, but very fun!  I enjoyed getting my creative juices flowing and pushing myself!  

I also used the color combination from Sunday Stamps 99.  

I used the Irrisistably Yours DSP for my side panel and tried to mimic the textures from each animal....stripes for the zebra, dots for the giraffe, and scales for the alligator.  Fun!

For the Mr. & Mrs. ~ CCMC350 & The Challenge 29

Hey everyone!  It's Create With Connie and Mary's Thursday Challenge!!!!  CCMC #350 is a playful color combo. I also used the sketch from The Challenge #29 to help me along.

I haven't really had a chance to play with this new wedding set called {Your Perfect Day}.  The cake is really cool and so easy to color!  I used my Stampin' Up markers to color the frosting and birds and outline the branches. A couple punched out flowers and pearls and boom. Done.

I had seen this picture on Pinterest, which was the inspiration for my polka dotted side panel.  I love the way this looks!  I know I'll be using this look again!

Sunflower & Butterfly ~ CMCC66

Happy Wednesday everyone!  It's time for a new Colour Me challenge.  This week we have the cheery duo of Marina Mist and Daffodil Delight.  

As I was searching my stash of DSP for this polka dotted pattern, I came across a bit of yellow gingham.  Don't you just love a polka dot/gingham combination?!?  It's so country.  After finding my paper, I decided on a sunny sunflower and fun butterfly to compliment the papers.  I used an old Sizzix die called Daisies #2.  I cut two flowers and sponged the tips.  I added a circle of Early Espresso and another little circle of Baked Brown Sugar polka dotted DSP to complete the flower's center.  I added the pleasant little blue butterfly from {Kinda Eclectic}.  I thought the crosshatch pattern on the butterfly complimented the gingham and polka dots.  

I used a pretty basic sketch that's been seen lots and lots but never gets old!  I used a bit of Fancy Foil Vellum for my large banner.  I didn't want to cover up the gingham too much!  A little bit of doily, some gold sequins (to tie in the gold vellum) and some pearls on the butterfly body complete this summery little number!

Congratulations Grad ~ CTC24

Hey everyone!  Today I'm playing with CASE-ing the Catty #24.  This is my first time playing along with the challenge.  I love the idea of this challenge site, though!  I encourage you to check it out and play along too!

The challenge this time was to CASE anything from the Easter section of the Occasions Catalogue (page 34 and 35).

• You can directly CASE a project (Copy and Share Everything) or use a sketch/layout, colour combo, embellishment, just to name a few examples, as a springboard for your own creations. 
• Or simply use some new Stampin' Up! Easter supplies from the Occasions Catalogue.

I used the card on page 34 on the bottom left side of the page as my inspiration.  I drew inspiration from the striped background, bold center panel, and the circle cutout with ribbon/string down the middle.

I decided to get a jump on graduation cards.  I used the Congratulations from {Bravo} and inked it up ombre style with Pistachio Pudding and Coastal Cabana.  I added stars in a sprinkle fashion after punching them out of Silver Glimmer paper with my Star Confetti punch.  Lastly I added a fussy cut graduation cap (which I colored a bit with a blender pen and Coastal Cabana ink) popped up on a dimensional.  Fun stuff!

Stippled Blossoms Watercolor ~ CCMC349, ColourQ285 & PP238

Good Thursday Morning everyone!  It's Create with Connie and Mary sketch time!  We had a wonderful sketch to play with this week.  The designers have come up with super cards this week too!

I also used the color challenge from Colour Q 285.  

I'm also playing with Claire's Tic Tac Toe challenge at The Paper Players.  I used Flowers, Sequins, and Dry/wet embossing.

To get the watercolored effect on my card, I sprayed the whole piece of watercolor paper with water, stamped my images (they will bleed all over the place) and waited for the paper to dry.  After it was dry, I went back over and stamped the images again.  I watercolored the entire background with my aquapainter.   

This technique of popping up the Thinlits words is really neat.  After you have your images stamped, lay the die down where you'd like the word and run it through your Big Shot.  ***Make sure you keep all the little pieces like the inside of the "Y" and "O", etc...***

Set that all aside and cut out two more sets of your word out of a thick cardstock, or I used the cardboard backing that comes with your DSP.  Glue all the words together and lay them back into the open area, like a puzzle.  This is were all the extra little pieces come in.  Make sure you put them all back into place so your image is completely intact.

Interlocking Cracked Glass Deer ~ CMCC65

Wednesday has sneaked around again so that means it's time for another Colour Me challenge!!!  This week we are going monocromatic with Soft Sky.  I tried my hardest to keep my colors only Soft Sky and Vanilla, but I finally relented and added some Sahara Sand DSP in there.  It looked way better to me that way! I used this particular peice (which is retired and I don't know the name of) because I thought it sort of looked like twisty antlers.

  

I've had this idea for this cracked glass deer head for a while now.  The deer head from {Remembering Christmas} is one of my very favorite stamps of all time from Stampin' Up.  I know it's supposed to be a Christmas stamp and it's retired, but who cares!  I love it, so I'm gonna use it!!!!

The cracked glass technique has been around for ages, but it's such a fun one!

To make the deer head, I stamped it in white, fussy cut it out and added the layers and layers of glassy glaze embossing powder that it takes for this technique.  I adhered it to the chevron oval with Fast Fuse, which is a little stronger adhesive, just because the image tends to get a little heavy with all the layers of embossing on it.

I also made this card an interlocking gate fold, just to make it a tad more interesting.  It puts a fun spin on it!
