Best Thoughts in Plum ~ CCMC366 & MOJO408

Well, time has a way of sneaking around and we find ourselves back at Thursday, which means it's Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge time!  This week is a color challenge....
This sketch is loosely based on Mojo Monday 408.

These colors are very similar to the one's I used on last weeks card, but boy are they pretty!  I'm LOVING the {Best Thoughts} hydrangea flower....isn't it gorgeous!  First I embossed the flower with black embossing powder and then I colored it with a blender pen and ink pads.  Next, I fussy cut the whole thing out.  I needed to incorporate the Sahara Sand some how and tried a few different DSP's, but nothing seemed to work.  I wound up making my own background using the resist technique.  I stamped {Dotty Angles}on white cardstock with Versamark ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.  I then sponged the whole piece with Sahara Sand ink.  I like the Bokeh effect it gives.

I added in the fabulous black DSP to enhance the black embossing on the flower.  The ruffled lace ribbon adds a frilly feel.  Lastly, I added a banner sentiment across the stem of the flower and accented it with a gold button with linen thread behind it.

I also dotted the flower's stamen with my white gel pen.

Be sure to hop on over to the CCMC blog and take a gander at all the other lovely creations made with this nice trio of colors!
Thanks for taking a peek and have a blessed day!

Purple and Mint Birthday Blossom ~ CCMC365

Hey everybody, it's Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge time again!  It's sketch week...

My card started off with this pretty, little watercolored flower that was lying around my desk, discarded from another project.  It's from {Flower Shop}. I stamped it on watercolor paper and colored it with my Aqua Painter.  I added the leaves, watercolored with Sahara Sand ink, from {Birthday Blossoms}. The sentiment and smaller flowers on the Vanilla oval are also from {Birthday Blossoms}.  For the background banner, I stamped the leaf image on Mint Macaron cardstock in Versamark, embossed it with clear EP and them sponged over the entire thing with Bermuda Bay ink.  I like the depth this technique achieves.  I added a bit of Sahara Sand lace ribbon underneath the banner.

I also added some Linen Thread behind the flower and leaves and popped the whole thing up on a dimensional.
For a little extra detail in the center of the flower, I used my white gel pen to add some dots and then ran over the center with my aqua painter to soften them up a bit.

Here's a list of my supplies....
Stamps: Birthday Blossoms, Flower Shop
Ink: Blackberry Bliss, Coastal Cabana, Elegant Eggplant
Paper: Blackberry Bliss, Very Vanilla, Mint Macaron, Watercolor, Bohemian DSP
Accessories: Oval Framelits, Pansy punch, Linen Thread, Clear EP, Sahara Sand lace ribbon

Thanks for taking a peek and have a blessed day!

You're Vintage! CCMC364 & SSSC277

Happy Thursday fellow stampers!  It's time for another Create with Connie and Mary Challenge!  It's a color challenge week and here they are.....
Watermelon Wonder, Crushed Curry and Basic Black.
For my card, I also used the sketch from Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #277.

My main panel was a little too big to put off center, so I chose to put it smack dab in the middle.
I just love this new set called {That Thing You Did}.  It's got such neat fonts and sayings!  I was immediately drawn to the You're So Vintage sentiment because it feels so 80's and that's the decade  of my childhood and teen years.  I love the nostalgia!  Anyway, remember how it was popular in the 80's for logos to have that repeated, shadowed look?  Well, that's what I was going for here.  I like it!

I used the new Elegant Dots embossing folder, but after the fact I realized I should have used the Tiny Triangles one.  I think it would have fit the 80's vibe better.  There were lots and lots of triangles in the 80's.....remember the Guess Jeans logo anyone?

I did think of using the triangle theme in the DSP though!
I also used some of the new metallic sequin assortment.
I hope you enjoyed this trip back to the 80's and I hope you'll be able to play along with the challenge this week!
Thanks for taking a peek and have a blessed day!

Watermelon Birthday Blossoms ~ CCMC363

Happy Thursday everyone!  It's time for a new Create with Connie and Mary challenge!  This week we have a sketch....

I was excited to use my new {Birthday Blossoms} set.  I started out by trying out several different coloring techniques and finally settled on just stamping the image right on Watermelon Wonder cardstock and using my Pansy punch to cut it out.  I also stamped the flowers again on Delightful Dijon and fussy cut out the flower center. Then I stamped the leaves on Cucumber Crush cardstock and fussy cut them as well.  I repeated that with the smaller flowers too.
For the brick wall, I inked my brayer up with Crumb Cake ink and ran it over the raised or back side of the Brick Wall embossing folder. I carefully placed my white cardstock in and ran it through the Big Shot.  I like the look this gives!

I popped the third flower up with two dimensionals, the second flower with one, and the first and last flowers are just glued right to the card base.  I add a Happy Birthday banner and also popped up the little duo of flowers.

Thanks for taking a peek and I hope you'll take time to join us in the challenge this week!  I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!!!

How Now Brown Cow ~ CCMC362 & RS170

Helloooo!  It's Create With Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge time!  We've got a nice color combo for you this week.
I also used the Retro Sketches #170 sketch.

I couldn't wait to use this fun, fun stamp from my new set {Barnyard Babies}.  Isn't this cow just cute!!!!  I thought she'd be perfect with the {Hardwood} stamp giving the barn type feel.
There isn't anything really special about this card....it's pretty straight forward.  I colored the cow with my blender pen, crumb cake ink pad, and crumb cake marker.  I used the Lost Lagoon color in the grass clumps and on the sprig in her mouth.

Make sure you check out all the other designers creations....they are awesome as usual!
Here's a list of my supplies....
Stamps: Barnyard Babies, hardwood
Ink: Real Red, Lost Lagoon, Crumb Cake, Stazon Black
Paper: same as ink
Accessories: Natural Chevron Ribbon, Lots of Dots EF

Thanks for taking a peek!
