Hello World ~ CCMC400, JUGS336, The Challenge 66, TSOT264

Hey stampers!  It's Thursday again and that means another Create with Connie and Mary Challenge!  

It's color week....here are our colors.....

I also used the inspiration from Just Us Girls #336 and The Challenge #66 and the sketch from Try Stampin' on Tuesday #264.

The colors in the JUGS photo were similar to our colors and I took inspiration in the weathered wood posts and water theme.  I used the wood DSP from my much loved Farmers Market pack.  In The Challenge #66 photo I drew  inspiration from the wooden anchor and the sailing ship, which ties into {The Open Sea} set that I used.  The Challenge #66 is also a masculine challenge....I think my card is pretty masculine. 

I did a lot of sponging on this card.  In fact, just about every single piece of cardstock I used is sponged...except for the black "hello".  I sponged around the edges of the wood DSP with Sahara Sand and Crumb Cake and then added some light streaks of Delightful Dijon and Lost Lagoon to add to the weathered wood look and tie in the colors.

 I stamped the globe and anchor in stazon ink and colored them with my blender pens and ink pads.  I cut each out by hand and sponged each with Sahara Sand ink.  The globe is layered on two die cut Delightful Dijon sponged circles.

I stamped the ledger stamp from {The Open Sea} with Early Espresso ink onto the Lost Lagoon strip.  I sponged the edges of it with Crumb Cake ink.

I tied the anchor on with some Linen Thread which I layered between the two Dijon circles.

Sunny Day My Friend ~ CCMC399

It's Thursday guys!  Create with Connie and Mary time again!!!!

Here's the sketch we have for you this week.

As you can see, my card is a loose interpretation of the sketch.  I had the idea strike me to use a bank of clouds as the horizontal panel on the sketch and put a bit of silver-lining underneath them. 

For once this was one idea came out exactly what I envisioned in my head!  I'm really pleased with the way it turned out. 

The line thru the middle of the sketch had me stumped a bit, but after contemplating and trying some different ribbon and string I finally came to the conclusion that I needed something transparent.  I cut a slim piece of window sheet and stamped "my friend" on it with Stazon white ink. 

I also added some clear wink of Stella to the stamped sun.

Happy Day Pedal Pusher ~ HSS234

Happy Tuesday stampers!  Hand Stamped Sentiments Challenge #234 is here!  It's an awesome sketch.  

As you can see, I flip-flopped my the sketch to fit my theme.  I wanted to use this fun bike image from the extra Sale-a-bration items called {Pedal Pusher}.  It's such a cute image with lots of little extras to add.  I tried to use fun, bright colors to make it spring-y.  I also used my gold Wink Of Stella pen to color in the seats and handle bar grips.  I was thinking of how sometime the rubbery/plastic parts of bikes are sometimes sparkly.  

I trimmed up the edge with this fun Melon Mambo pom-pom trim and polka dotted DSP.  I scattered a few rhinestones to mimic the sketch.  

I finished the card up by stamping the happy sentiment from {Perfect Pairings} out of the Sale-a-bration catalog as well.  I thought the sentiment matched the bicycle image nicely!

Flower-full Teapot ~ CCMC398 & Inkspire Me 240

Hi stampers!  Thursday is upon us yet again and that means it's time for a Create with Connie and Mary color challenge!  

To help me create my card this week, I also took inspiration from the sketch at In{k}spire Me #240.

The sketch is square, so my card base measures 5" x 5".  I also made an envelope to go with it and lined it with some cute, flowered Watermelon Wonder DSP.

More of my inspiration came from a picture I had seen on Pinterest of flowers potted in a watering can.  I got to thinking I could mimic it, only use the cute teapot from Cups and Kettles framelits.

I heat embossed a sentiment from {Party Pants} in white directly onto the tea kettle. 

I needed a smaller flower to fit the size of the teapot, so I used the{Petite Petals} stamp set and punch.  The leaves are from the Owl Builder punch and the center of the flower come from the retired Itty Bitty Punch Pack.  

I again got some great use out of my new favorite DSP, Farmers Market.  Isn't that weathered wood paper just cool!?!  I LOVE it!

The ribbon is a bit of Watermelon Wonder stitched satin ribbon that I cut in half length-wise.  It is too wide otherwise.  

I added a some stamping to the Soft Suede cardbase using the feather-looking stamp from {Botanical Blooms}.

Hello Chickie! ~ CCMC397

Hello stampers and happy Thursday!  It's Create with Connie and Mary time again!  We've got a cool sketch for you this week.

I finally got my hands on some Farmers Market DSP and all I can say to myself is....what took you so long to order this!!!!  

I'm in love with the rustic colors and patterns on this paper.  The veggie and fruit sides, not so much, but you never know when something like that will come in handy.  

For my card this week I want to use the Farmers Market DSP for sure.  Next was deciding on my focal point.  I'd seen this cute little chick from {Honeycomb Happiness} colored up in shades of songbirds, so that's the direction I went.  I used a Cedar Waxwing (one of my favorite birds that migrates thru our area every fall and spring) as my inspiration.  I know that a Cedar Waxwing has a black mask around it's eyes, but I wanted to keep this guy simple.  I just used the colors.

I stamped the chick in Stazon ink on Shimmery White cardstock, then I watercolored with my aquapen and stamp pads.  I used Calypso Coral, So Saffron and Tip Top Taupe ink.

I love the way he came out.  I'm such a fan of fat little birds.

For the sentiment, I thought the flourish at the end of the HELLO from the Greetings Thinlits made a nice little perch for my fat little bird.

I chose not to add any other greeting below the hello, as the sketch shows.  I looked and looked and couldn't come up with something suitable to put underneath.  I settled for a string of gold bakers twine.  I like the simplicity of it.

Spring Botanical Blossoms ~ HSS233

Hello stampers!  Today it's time for another Hand Stamped Sentiments challenge!  We've got a fresh, springy combo of Calypso Coral, Pear Pizzaz, and So Saffron.  

I started off by inking my brick wall embossing folder with Tip Top Taupe ink and ran it through the Big Shot.  I love how it looks like grout in between the bricks.  I added lots and lots of flowers in leaves in our challenge colors cut from the Botanical Builder Framelits dies and stamped them with accents from the {Botanical Blooms} stamp set.  After I finished placing them on the brick wall, I decided it was still to plain for me so I added black sequin centers to each of the flowers.  I like the end result.  

A piece of coral bakers twine, a Calypso Coral mat and Black card base complete my card!

No-Line Blended Bloom ~ CCMC396 & TSOT260

Hey everyone!  It's Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge time again!  We've got an elegant color trio for you to try.  Cajun Craze, Hello Honey, and Basic Black.  This combo is the perfect time to use some of the subtle prints from Botanical Gardens DSP.  They play perfectly together!  

I also used the sketch from Try Stampin on Tuesday 260.

I love to try new techniques and for this challenge my starting off point was this no-line watercolored {Blended Bloom}.  No-line watercoloring is super simple.  All you do is stamp the image in a light color (I used Sahara Sand) and watercolor as usual.  The lines in the stamp seem to disappear into the watercolor ink.  I really love this look.  I used watercolor paper, my aqua painter pen, and the ink smooshed into the lid of my stamp pads.  I tried to use some black, Stampin' Up's black ink is archival, to it didn't work at all to watercolor with.  I ended up taking some ink off my black marker to color in the leaves, which are from {Birthday Blossoms}.  The sentiment is from that same set too. The leaves ended up coming out kind of gray, so I added a thin Smokey Slate border to the black and Hello Honey DSP.  

The center of the flower didn't come out exactly how I'd wanted it too, but for my first time trying this technique I didn't think it was too bad.  I'm definitely gonna try it again!  

After I was completely done with my flower, I cut it out, bent the edges up to give it some extra dimension and popped it up on dimensionals.
