Big Blossoms ~ CCMC404

Hello!  It's Thursday again and that means Create with Connie and Mary has a brand new challenge!  It's color week and I love this combo!!!

I started by inking the chevron stamp from {Work of Art} in Versamark ink and embossed it with clear embossing powder on the navy cardstock.  I love the tone on tone this gives.  I added these 2 big blossoms from Floral Frames Framelits.  I cut the centers of the flowers from the Smokey Slate Neutrals designer paper and then also cut the Hello from some Silver Glimmer paper.  I tied more of the silver in by adding some silver thread circles.  I don't do this embellishment nearly enough....it's fun and neat looking!  Lastly, I set the small navy butterfly from the Bold Butterfly Framelits on top of the blossoms.  The whole thing is layered on a peice of script Smokey Slate neutrals stack DSP and finished off with a Calypso Coral card base.

Thanks for taking a peek and have a blessed day!

Friendly Tree ~ CCMC403

Hello!  Create with Connie and Mary Thursday is here once again!  This week we've got an incredible sketch for you!
I have to confess that I struggled with this one.  This was the second card I made for this challenge.  I'm still not thrilled with it and had one more idea, but ran out of time to get it created.
Oh well....any handmade card is a good card, right?

My card ended up in sort of a loose interpretation of the sketch.  It's similar though!  I'm usually one who likes to follow the sketch pretty closely, but I do like the times when I can think a little outside the box and be somewhat creative with the sketch challenges.

For the watercolor look of my card I inked up the stamps and spritzed them with water before I stamped them on the watercolor paper.  I also ran my aquapainter over the image after it was stamped to make it a little more watercolor-ish!

I hope to see your creations in our gallery this week!
Thanks for taking a peek and have a blessed day!

Gold and Watermelon Graduation ~ HSS236

Hello stampers!  It's time again for another Hand Stamped Sentiments challenge!  We've got a cool sketch for you to try this time.  Be sure to hop over the HSS blog and check out all the other designers samples....they've really outdone themselves!

To me the circles in the sketch resembled balloons, so that's the direction I went.  Graduation is quickly approaching and I'm gonna need several cards, so I figured I just as well get a jump on it!

Also, what could be more festive than a shaker card?  Not much, I say!  In hindsight I wish I had added more glitter and stars.  The balloon feels a bit stark to me.  It's such a gamble though.....there have been many times I added to much stuff to a shaker and the stuff inside wouldn't shake.  This time there's not enough....jeesh!

I hope you'll join us for the challenge....remember, you've got two weeks to participate!

Thanks for taking a peek and have a blessed day!

Beachy Sea Street ~ CCMC402

Yay!  It's Create with Connie and Mary Thursday again!  And, it's color week!
Aren't these colors just gorgeous together?  My mind was going a thousand different directions with this trio.  I couldn't decided weather to go floral or funky or fresh and clean. I actually did another card that had a watercolored rose , but it just didn't come together like I had envisioned in my head. So, plan B. I'd been tossing around with different ideas (again, in my head) using {Sea Street} and thought they'd be cool in these colors, so I set out to do a shadow box/sampler type card.
I'm so excited with the way this turned out and I love this set with these colors!

These images are so fun to play with too!

The background stamp is the looooong ago retired {Cheesecloth} stamp, but I just couldn't resist pairing it with these cute, sea images.  I tried a couple of different choices in products that were current, but nothing looked quite as good as this did.

The greeting is from the fun set {You're Sublime} and I think it fits perfectly with this theme.

Here's a list of my supplies.....

Stamps: Sea Street, Cheesecloth, You're Sublime
Ink: Soft Suede, Mint Macaron, Lost Lagoon
Paper: Same + white
Accessories: 3/4" and 1" circle punches, Linen thread

SP16Badge

I hope you'll have time to join us for this cool color challenge!  I can't wait to take a gander at all your creations!
Thanks for taking a peek and have a blessed day!

Fresh Ridiculous Happiness ~ CCMC401

Hey stampers!  Today's Thursday....Create with Connie and Mary Thursday!  This week we have a sketch for you.

I needed a birthday card for a special girl and she happens to like sunflowers.  I think this little flower from {Cottage Greetings} is kinda sunflowerish.  I kept the card fairly clean and simple to show off the flower and sentiment.
I added the burlap ribbon because I think it compliments the rustic sunflower feel.  I think the Daffodil Delight and Watermelon Wonder colors combined with the white feel fresh too.

I hope you'll play along with us at Create with Connie and Mary this week!
Thanks for taking a peek and have a blessed day.
