Bright Happy Swirly Bird Rose ~ CCMC443

Isn't this a fun sketch we have for you at Create with Connie and Mary this week?  If you haven't noticed, the CCMC site has changed a little.  InLinkz upped their prices by a bunch, so linking your card to our challenge site is no longer an option.  Instead, we'd love to have you join us and show off your creations at the Create with Connie and Mary Facebook page.  It's simple and easy to upload pictures and link your blog page so we can view your beautiful cards and projects.

Anyway, onto my card.  I used the Swirly Bird stamp to make a bright yellow rose.  I punched the rose out with the 2" circle punch.  I added some other brightly colored circles in Watermelon Wonder and Emerald Envy and also a fun polka-dotted Daffodil Delight strip.  This is such a happy card that I had to add the sentiment Oh, Happy Day.
I added texture in the background with the Hexagon Dynamic Texture folder.  I love, love the texture that these new folders add to the paper.  It's so cooooool!!!!

Thanks for taking a peek and have a blessed day!

Vibrant Remarkable Watercolor ~ CCMC442

Hey stampers!  It's Create with Connie and Mary challenge time again!  Look at the vibrant color trio we have for your challenge enjoyment!  I have to admit that I wasn't that excited about the color combo at first....but, once I started putting the ink to the paper I fell in love!!!!  I'm enamored with the way this came out!  It might be one of my all time faves....
It is so vibrant and fun in real life!  Once I had my flowers and leaves stamped with Stazon ink, I added the color challenge inks with my aqua painter.  I splattered the whole thing with black ink and then a little extra splattering with my gold Wink Of Stella pen.  I also went over some of the flower centers and leaves with my clear Wink of Stella.
After stamping my sentiment in black, I added a thin Emerald Envy ribbon and a scattering of gold sequins.

Thanks for taking a peek and have a blessed day!

In My Thoughts ~ HSS256

Hello Stampers!  It's time for another Hand Stamped Sentiments Challenge.  A sketch challenge is what's on deck for the next two weeks!
My card is a mish mosh of older (one REALLY OLD) DSP and a few different stamps, punches and dies.  I even had to pull out a retired color (regal rose) to finish off my stamping.
The floral dsp is super duper old...way back to about 2009 or something.  I'm sure you all have stashes like mine, and what is it with feeling the need to not use the paper?  I have a love/hate relationship with patterned paper packs.  I know so many of you can relate.  I want to use the paper but what if I cut it and it's wrong?  Or what if it's wrong for this project and doesn't work?  gasp!!!!  Anyway, I've resolved to try to use up a bunch of my older paper.

\

The other thing on my agenda is sympathy cards. I've needed way to many of those lately.  Sometimes you need something a little more cheerful when you are celebrating a special someone's life.  That's were this card comes in.  This card totally fits her.  Vibrant and full of fun.  I know her family will appreciate the cheerful colors and flowers.

Here's a list of my supplies....
Stamps: Best Thoughts, Thoughtful Branches
Paper: assorted old (don't know the names) DSP, White, Wisteria Wonder, Old Olive
Ink: Daffodil Delight, Regal Rose, Old Olive
Accessories: flower punch, Layering Circle Thinlits, pearls

Thanks for taking a peek!
I hope you'll join us a HSS this week!

Dainty Embossed Vellum ~ CCMC441

Wow, the weeks seem to be flying by!  Can you believe we are into the third week of January already!  Another Thursday has rolled around so here we are at Create with Connie and Mary again!  We've got a neat sketch challenge for you this time.
This one was a toughie for me.  I planned and then re-planned my card and supplies and then ended up using nothing of what I planned!!!  LOL!  I started out wanting to use the new Carried Away DSP, which I did (the gray polka-dot).  I planned to use the reverse side of this as well, which is Peek-a-boo Peach, but I felt like the patterns were too busy together.  I settled on stamping some Flirty Flamingo lines on Flirty Flamingo cardstock to accent the gray dsp.  I also had in mind that I was going to make this into a baby card with the gray and pink and use {Foxy Friends}.  Then I spotted a piece of vellum laying on my desk and remembered a technique where you emboss the vellum with a stylus.  Here is a link to a video showing the technique. It's kind of a fun and unique look.  I fussy cut my {Penned and Painted} flower and leaves after I stamped in on vellum in Stazon ink.  I then used my stylus to emboss.  I didn't use a very heavy hand because I wanted a more subtle look.  I layered the flower on a circle of Flirty Flamingo and then then another circle of Silver Glimmer paper.  All of that is perched upon a super sweet lace doily.  I tied the silver together by adding the "hello" diecut and metallic silver ribbon from the Sale-a-bration catalog.  Lastly, I added a three white perfect accents.  I decided against rhinestones because I felt like this card had enough sparkle already.

Here's a list of my supplies....
Stamps: Penned and Painted, Thoughtful Banners
Ink: Flirty Flamingo, Stazon Black
Paper: Up and Away DSP, Flirty Flamingo, Silver glimmer, white
Accessories: Perfect white accents, lace doily, Silver metallic ribbon, greeting thinlit

Thanks for taking a peek and have a blessed day!

Irresistible Fat Chicken ~ CCMC440, PP326

Oh boy!  Create with Connie and Mary is back again with a classic color combo for you this week.  I'm playing with brand new stamps and it's so much fun!  I just love, love, love this chicken set called {Hey, Chick} from the Sale-a-bration catalog.  The images in it are so cute!  I can't wait to use it more!  For now I settled on the fat hen.  We live on a farm and up until two years ago we've always had chickens.  I can tell you that there's nothing better then farm fresh eggs.  Chickens are such fun creatures...funny to watch.  I colored my fat hen like some of the classic leghorn chickens we had here on our farm.  I stamped her three times. Once on the Crumb Cake circle, and twice on scrap white.  I fussy cut one entire chick out and only the wing off of the other.  I used the smooth end of my poker tool and a mouse pad to give my chicken a little dimension.  Then I lined her up with the chicken on the crumb cake and popped her up with dimensionals.  Lastly, I popped up her wing. I ran my Crumb Cake marker over the lines or feathers on her body and then colored her comb and wattle red.

I'm also playing along with the Paper Players this week.  The challenge there is to used a recycled item.  My recycled item it the black and white Irresistibly Floral Specialty paper.  This was a cast off from a different project and I'm so glad to be recycling it here because it works great!  I think I used my brayer with classic black ink to ink up the paper.  I remember that it wasn't black enough for the project I intended it for, but I like it here.  It gives kind of a chalk board type feel.  I like the pattern because it reminds me of eggs.
I also used the Hexagons textured impressions folder to mimic chicken wire.  I love the way it looks!

Here's a list of my supplies....
Stamps: Hey, Chick, Gorgeous Grunge
Ink: Crumb Cake, Black, Real Red, Versa Mark
Paper: Black, Crumb Cake, Real Red, White, Irresistibly Floral DSP
Accessories: White EP, Nesting circle die, linen thread, Hexagons textured embossing folder, dimensionals

Thanks for taking a peek and have a blessed day!

Painted Posies CAS Birthday ~ HSS255, CTS203

CAS...dare I say I love it???  If you know anything about me and my stamping then you know I've never been a fan of CAS.  I try it but I'm never quite happy with in the end.  But this card!  I think this one has just enough "extras" that I can get behind it!  In fact I really, really like it!
The #1 reason behind this card is our color challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments.  What a cheerful combo this is!  I searched for a sketch challenge to help my  card come together and I ran across this one from CAS(E) this Sketch #203.

I hope you'll have a chance to play along with us at Hand Stamped Sentiments.  The challenge lasts for two week!

Here's a list of my supplies...
Stamps: Penned and Painted, Celebrate today
Ink: Flirty Flamingo, Emerald Envy, Watermelon Wonder, Black
Paper: Flirty Flamingo, Emerald Envy, Black, In Color DSP
Accessories: Adorning accents edglits, iced rhinestones, rouched ribbon

Special Reason Shabby Chic ~ CCMC439, CASCS204, SSC143, SIP80, SUO165

Oh my gosh....Create with Connie and Mary time has rolled around again and I've got NEW STUFF to show off!  This is such an exciting time of year.  We're all coming down off the holidays and what's there to look forward to now?  The NEW occasions catalog and Sale-a-bration!  Both catalogs are chock full of fun, beautiful new stamps and supplies!
To go along with our fabulous sketch this week, I chose to get color inspired by CAS Colours & Sketches #204 and Sunday Stamps #143.  I'm also entering in SIP#80 for the card makers choice, and SUO #165 which challenges us to use new stuff.

So, can you spot the new stuff?  Well the flowers are from a beautiful new set called {Special Reason} and have Stylish Stems coordinating dies.  One of my very favorite new products is the Hexagons texture folder.  It gives a super deep impression like my beloved Cable Knit folder.  I just love the look of these awesome impression folders.
Another new accessory showcased on this card is the Falling in Love DSP and Falling in Love embellishment (the center of the big flower).  I'm super excited about these new products and can't wait to use them more.  I love the Special Reason flowers because they look a little worn.  It looks like I didn't get enough ink on them, but that is the look of that stamp.  I thought it lent itself nicely to a shabby chic look, which is another thing I'm quite fond of.

Here's a list of all my supplies....

Stamps: Special Reason, Thoughtful Banners, Teeny Tiny Wishes, Hardwood
Ink: Sweet Sugarplum, Pink Pirouette, Soft Sky, Crumb Cake
Paper: Sahara Sand, Sweet Sugarplum, Very Vanilla, Soft Sky, Falling In Love DSP
Accessories: Falling in Love embellishment, Hexagon Texture Folder, Stylish Stems framelits, metal rim pearls, lace trim, very vanilla satin ribbon

Thanks for taking a peek and have a blessed day!
