Blessings Butterfly - RS18

This is my card for Retro sketches 18

I had a couple of these little butterflies laying on my desk, several in the Island Indigo color and one in Cherry Cobbler, so I picked them up and decided these were my main focus for the card! I love it when I get to use my scraps!  I cut out a couple more, added some Indigo DP and Riding Hood Red pleated ribbon....and voila!  Well, not quite.  I did add a sentiment and some embossing too.  :)  Anyway, it's all pretty simple and straight forward.  I really like the color combination...so rich looking.  Each set of butterflies has a different set of rhinestones....on a simple card like this, that's a detail that makes all the difference.

Here's a list of my supplies.....
Stamps: Card Chatter-Sympathy (CTMH)
Paper: Island Indigo, Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White, In Color DP
Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Island Indigo
Accessories: rhinestone stickers, pleated ribbon, finial press EF, Embosslits Beautiful Wings, Corner Rounder punch

A Little Something Different - CTD198 & CCMCNE2

This card combines Color Throwdown 198 & Create With Connie & Mary-NC2.  Although I'm not a subscriber to the CCMC-NC2, I still wanted to use the sketch because it's a little unusual and sometimes it's fun to push yourself.  Actually, the color combo stretched me somewhat too.  Tangerine and Coral would never be two colors I'd put together, let alone throwing Gray and Pool Party into the mix!  I can feel myself stretching just talking about it!!

  2012 Create New Edition-003

The inspiration photo from CTD is fun and beachy, but I chose to go a different route and used the butterfly image from Kindness Matters, only because I haven't had a chance to play with it much.  I spritzed the main panel of butterflies with my shimmer spray.  I wish it showed up better in the pictures....it's just so darn hard to photograph.  It's my go-to accessory when I want to glam anything up.  It adds alot of bang for your buck!

Here's a complete list of supplies.....
Stamps: Kindness Matters, Just Believe
Paper: Basic Gray, Calypso Coral, Tangerine Tango, Pool Party, Variety of DP
Ink: Stazon Black, Pool Party, Tangerine Tango, Calypso Coral
Accessories: Designer Frames EF, Oval Cutting System, Vintage Wallpaper EF, Shimmer Spray, Calypso Coral 1/8" Organdy ribbon

Sweet Summertime Birthday - FMS41

This card is for Freshly Made Sketches 41.

I love this fun little flip flop die from Provo Craft.  This card is going to my sister-in-law who has a July birthday and loves all things summer.  I used some fun designer paper.  The green kinda reminds me of waves and the swirly yellow is just whimsical and sunny.

The flip flops are the star of the show here and I added a little flower from the itty bitty punch pack, plus a little rhinestone to make them exta special.
Here's a list of supplies I used on this card.....
Stamp: Sunny Days from Inkadinkadoo
Paper: Crumb Cake, Marina Mist, White, Everyday Enchantment & Sunny Garden DP
Ink: Marina Mist
Accessories: Flip Flop die (Provo Craft), Itty Bitty Punch Pack, Marina Mist 1/8" ribbon, Swiss Dot EF, Basic Rhinestones

Glittery Brilliance - PDCC137

Today's card is for The Play Date Cafe Challenge 137.  The colors are black & white with a splash of  blue.

Here's what I came up with....I was totally inspired by the silver flower in the inspiration photo.  I started out by cutting three flowers (two big and one small) out of my Blossom Party die in Brilliant Blue cardstock.  I sponged black ink on the edges of all three flowers.  Next I added a touch of glue on the tips of the flowers and sprinkled them with silver glitter.  I finished the flower off with an antique silver glitter brad from Making Memories.

I used Black Satin ribbon with a layer of braided silver cord to offset the pretty brocade looking patterened paper.
Here's a complete list of all the supplies.....
Stamps: none
Paper: Black, White, Brilliant Blue, Recolections patterened paper
Ink: Black
Accessories: Blossom Party die, Antiqued Silver Glitter brad, Black Satin ribbon, Silver braided cord, Silver glitter

Fresh Friday Flower - FMS40 & FM63

This card is for Freshly Made Sketches 40 & The Friday Mashup 63.

The Friday Mashup calls for using Rich Razzleberry, Daffodil Delight, & Pool Party and paper piecing.  I chose not to do the paper piecing part because I wanted to focus on watercoloring the challenge colors on the flower.

I used a my pool party marker on watercolor paper and blended the ink with my blender pen.  I used my rich razzleberry marker at the ends of the flower and blended it down into the pool party.  I love the effect it gives!  And, just like the sample flower, I made the center yellow.  I fussy cut the flower and spayed it with champagne shimmer mist.

I chose to not add any leaves or stems with this flower because I wanted it to be the star of the show.
Here's a list of supplies I used.....
Stamps: Fabulous Florets
Paper: Pool Party CS & DP, Rich Razzleberry, Vanilla, Watercolor paper
Ink: Rich Razzleberry, Pool Party, Daffodil Delight, Black Stazon
Accessories: Labels die, Large Oval die, Framelits Labels die, Daffodil Delight Seam Binding ribbon, Champagne Shimmer mist, Vintage Wallpaper EF, Basic Rhinestones

American Made - JUGS141

Just Us Girls' Challenge 141 is a red, white and blue color challenge.
I've seen these 3-D stars around different places and always wondered how they were made.  While browsing Pinterest the other day I stumbled upon a tutorial on how do make them and boy is it simple!  I got this idea to make a flag card, and then I saw the JUGS challenge.  What a perfect match!  I love it when things work out like that!

Because this card is so simple and has little for embelishments, I embossed the blue square in a big polka-dot EF and the red strips in the Square Lattice EF.  With the 3-D star, this adds texture and visual interest.  I added a sentiment from Close To My Heart.

Stamps: You're a Star (CTMH)
Paper: Night of Navy, Real Red, White
Ink: Night of Navy
Accessories: Stars #2 Die, Polka-dot & Square Lattice EF
