A Friend Loves ~ CMCC63 & PP236

Well, what do you know?  Wednesday has rolled around again and we have another fabulous challenge for you at Colour Me...!  This week we'd like you to highlight the trio of Marina Mist, So Saffron, and Sahara Sand.  You can also add any neutral in there if you need to!  I'm also entering this into the Paper Players #236 clean and simple floral challenge.  I think they fit well together, don't you?

I love the flowers from the {Bloom with Hope} set and daisies have always been one of my favorite flowers.  I stamped several of them in a random pattern around two edges of the cardstock and colored them in with my Blendabilities markers, which are discontinued btw.......

It's such a huge bummer!  At this time Stampin' Up has not announced any plans to bring them back, but I'm hoping they'll find a way to remedy the situation and bring back something similar.  

Back to the card.....I also inked up my brand new set {Banner Blessings} which go perfectly with the "sketched feeling" of the flowers.  I paper pieced the banner in So Saffron designer paper which gives it extra oomph!   

As I've said many times over, I STRUGGLE with clean and simple.  I feel like I did pretty good with this card though.  I HAD to add some details with paper piercing and ribbon and then a cute little dangling heart punched from {You Brighten My Day}, which I thought also lent itself well to the "sketched feeling" of the other stamps.  To make this fun little charm I stamped and punched two hearts out of the So Saffron DSP, looped a piece of  thread around the ribbon and then "sandwiched" the thread between the two hearts.

Green Spring Sampler ~ CCMC346

Hello stampers!  This card is for my second week as a Create With Connie and Mary designer.  Our challenge this week is a color challenge consisting of Wild Wasabi, Black, and Sahara Sand.  

I LOVE a sampler card and wanted to do something fun for spring with these colors.  I used a plethora of stamps and a few designer papers.  I'm pleased with the final result!

Make sure you make a stop at each one of the other designers at CCMC and leave them some love for their amazing creations!

Green Northern Lights ~ CMCC62, CAS(E)113, JUGS283

Hello stampers!  It's Colour Me Wednesday!  This week we've got a striking color combo for you....Garden Green and Pear Pizzaz, plus a neutral if you want.  I acutally added two neutrals to my card....black and twine.  I sort of loosely used the sketch from CAS(E)113 (which I flipped on it's side) and am also entering this card into JUGS283 which has a masculine theme this week.

The first time I had seen the the Northern Lights Technique was on this card made by Heidi Baks! I absolutely fell in love with it the moment I saw it!  I definitely had to try it for myself and ended up making this card.  If you want to try out the technique for yourself, check out the tutorial here at Splitcoaststampers.

When researching real northern lights, a lot of times they show up in shades of green only.  I thought that this color challenge would be a great time to highlight this technique again!  

I have to say that I am lucky to live in a part of the world in which I can actually see the northern lights dancing in the sky every now and then!  They truly are a beautiful sight in person.

I know that CAS(E) this sketch is supposed to be a clean and simple challenge site, but try as I might I just have the hardest time making a CAS card!  Also, the bear stamp is from an older Close To My Heart set called Nature's Gift.

Shaker Ship ~ CTD332, RS156, & JUGS283

Happy Sunday everyone!  Today's card combines three challenges....Color Throwdown 332, Retro Sketches 156, and Just Us Girls 283.

This was one of those cards that came together with little effort.  It looks exactly like it did in my head.  When I saw the combo at Color Throwdown, I knew I could use the Maritime DSP, which is perfect!  That would mean a nautical theme of some sort, so I chose the ship from the {Traveler} set.  Then, when I saw the sketch at Retro Sketches, I thought it would be perfect for a shaker.  Bing, bang, boom....done!  The theme at JUGS is masculine and I'd say this fits.  I chose a celebration theme because when a shaker is involved it screams fun!  

I tried to make the circle look like a gold porthole by using brushed gold cardstock and placing punched gold circles for the rivets.  I also "sprinkled" some Champage Shimmer stars in amongst the the captains wheels and anchors to tie things together.

New Team Member!!! CCMC345

Whoo-Hoo!!!!  I have more exciting news to share....I am one of the new members on the Create With Connie and Mary design team!  I'm so excited!!!!  I've been a BIG fan of their challenge blog for a long time and am so pleased that they chose me to be a part of their team.  My first team challenge is a sketch.  Make sure you hop on over to the CCMC blog to see the other fab creations made with this sketch!

I flipped the sketch on it's side and went with fun, springy colors from the Best Year Ever DSP stack.  

I'm also adding this to The Paper Players #234 Spring Theme Challenge.

Tangelo Monarch ~ CMCC61

It's Colour Me Wednesday!!!!  We have Tangelo Twist plus a neutral for you this week.  You'll see if you check out the Colour Me blog that many of us designers went the butterfly route!  Well, you know what they say, great minds think alike!  The fun thing is that they are all so different!  

I started with this big, beautiful butterfly die, cut out with black cardstock.  I then traced the outline of the butterfly onto a piece of vellum and cut it out by hand.  I used my orange blendabilites markers and colored the wings.  Once I glued the butterfly together, I put the white dots on the edges of the wing with my white gel pen.  The white background is a bit of the leaf Irresistibly Yours DSP with no color added to it.  It's hard to see it in the photo, but it adds a bit of texture in real life.  I also pierced the black oval frame which you can see better in the photo below.  

The sentiment is from a retired set called {Vintage Verses}. 

The background paper is from the Back To Black DSP pack and reminded me of a lattice fence.  

A few rhinestones finish off this beauty of a butterfly!

Sunset Beach Flamingo ~ CMCC60 & PP233

Hi!  It's Wednesday again which brings us a bright, new Colour Me challenge!  This week we have a playful combo of Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo, Calypso Coral, and Daffodil Delight.  These are some REALLY fun colors!  I tend to struggle with more then two or three colors, so I love that this challenges me!  I decided I could combine the coral and yellow into a sunset and use the turquoise as water.  I figured it would be fun to throw the flamingo in there to tie in the melon color.  I'm very pleased with the way it turned out!  I also love that I was able to use the sketch from the Paper Players this week!  

I sponged and sponged and then sponged some more on this card. The sky, water and sun are masked and sponged, and the starburst framelit behind the sunset scene is also sponged around the edges.  Then I sponged on some Calypso Coral to the Irresistibly Yours DSP.  I love how soft and subtle the colors look, yet they are still fun.  The only things that didn't get the sponge treatment are the flamingo, flower, and sentiment.
