KKC04

Happy Halloween everyone!  I am dressing as Flo the Progressive Insurance gal!  Maybe there will be pictures to follow.....  It sure is a beautiful day here in northeast Montana today, but lets get down to business and talk cards!
This is a card I made for a couple who are great friends of mine.  They just welcomed their 5th girl into their family!  I used the Ka-Pow Kreative Challenge sketch as a jumping off point.  I just love that site....if you havn't ever checked out Carrie Gaskin's work, do!  She is very, very talented!
My card uses the cute little skunk from the Pun Fun set.  I paper pieced the heart and watercolored the skunk with watercolor pencils and my blender pen.  I layed that on a piece of Pretty in Pink that I cut with the scallop square sizzix die, and then a black square.  The ribbon is from an old ribbon originals pack....I think it dates back to about 2007 or something like that.  It is pretty special ribbon and was waiting for just the right project, I guess!  The backround of the card is a basic gray piece run through the Big Shot in the houndstooth embossing folder, then layered on black and pink.  I added some Dazzling Diamonds to the main image just because I love sparkle and because it's for a little girl.  The sentiment banner across the top is the curly cute set and I couldn't resist a couple of flower buttons as embelishments.  I guess that's about it!  Hope you enjoyed looking!

Pretty Snowflake

I've been teaching an adult education cardmaking class at a local highschool for a few weeks now and this is one of the cards we made for the class.  I love the soft look and non-traditional christmas colors.
I used Blue Bayou, Soft Sky, and Pretty in Pink for my color and may I just say that I would love SU! to bring back Soft Sky....I love that color.  Anyhoo, I stamped the main image (the snowflake spot) in white white craft ink, then embossed with white EP.  I used a sponge and rubbed Blue Bayou ink all over to make the snowflakes pop.  Next, I layered everything up.  I used my snowflake and buttone die for the single snowflake accessory topped with a silver cord bow.  I also must say that the silver cord was one of the first things I bought from SU! several years ago and am finally running out of it....I wouldn't mind if they brought this product back either!  The new snowflake embossing folder made a great backdrop for the main image of my card and I layed the sides with a strip of vanilla and punched lace border pink.  Next, I stamped Merry (Tiny Tags) on couple of layed circles and mounted it behind the main panel.  To finish everything off, I misted the whole card with Champagne Shimmer paint/rubbing alcohol to give it a little sparkle....an who doesn't like sparkle!!!!
Have a fabulous day!

I'm A SideKick!

I was recently chosen as a super hero sidekick for the Artistic Avengers Ka-Pow Kreative Challenge #3.
This was a color challenge using pumpkin pie, wisteria wonder, daffodil delight and white.  This is not a color combo I would usually choose so it was fun to work with!  I was very honored to be chosen as one of the sidekicks!!!!
Here's my card.
I stamped A Flower For All Seasons in Stazon Black ink on watercolor paper, watercolored it with my blender pen then added Crystal Effects on the center of the sunflowers and ladybug (which is hard to see in the photo, but is so cute in real life!)

My First Time....

Wow.  I've done it.  I've created my own blog and I have no idea what I'm doing!  I love surfing other stampers blogs and finally decided to "take the plunge" and give it a go on my own!  So, bear with me people as I try to learn this process.
Here we go.... my first card upload.
I made this card for the Color Inspiration Challenge #163 over at Stamping 411. http://stamping411.blogspot.com/2011/10/color-inspiration-challenge-163.html
We were to use Calypso Coral, Baja Breeze and So Saffron.  For my card I used the Oh, So Lovely flower set, stamped it on watercolor paper in black Stazon ink, then watercolored it with Coral and Yellow ink with my blender pen.  I sponged around the edge of the card with Baja Breeze then added some extra color by stamping with the damask stamp from the Bliss set right over the poppy flowers.  I also used this stamp for the backround of the card.  Next, I ran the vanilla paper through my Big Shot in the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder, then tore the edges and sponged it up with some Baja.  I layered it up with some torn So Saffron also.  Lastly, I mounted the main image on a rectangle of Calypso Coral, added the Baja seam binding ribbon, my sentiment (which is from Just Believe) and some half pearls.
