Purple Love and Thanks ~ CCMC525, PP407, WWC185

Hi there stampers and welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary challenge.  This week we have a pleasant color combination for you consisting of Gorgeous Grape, Highland Heather, and Granny Apple Green.  I've stated in posts past that I'm not really a purple kind of person....it's usually the last color I reach for, but it's always good to stretch and push yourself, and as usual I enjoyed using these colors after getting going with this card.
I really like the look of the scattered leaves from Safari Chic and have admired many a card done similarly, so that's the route I took with my card.  I used the sketch from the Paper Players #407 to help me along with my design team card and decided I just as well enter into the Anything Goes challenge #185 over Water cooler Wednesday as well!

Here's a list of my supplies......

Stamps: Safari Chic
Ink: Gorgeous Grape, Highland Heather, Granny Apple Green
Paper: White, Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape
Accessories: Simple Stripe EF, Pearlized thread, Iridescent Sequins

Thanks for taking a peek and have a blessed day!

Wild About YOU! ~ HSS297

Hello stampers!  Today's fun card is for Hand Stamped Sentiments inspiration challenge #297.  Isn't it fun!  There's lots of different thing to draw from there.  I chose to combine two stamp sets to make my card:  Wild About You and Safari Chic.  I also went with a color palette of Granny Apple Green, Shaded Spruce, and Daffodil Delight...I also threw some black in there.  I like the way it came out.  I have only used the giraffe from this set yet.  I guess I need to broaden my horizons and branch out with the rhino or kangaroo!

We'd love to have you join us in this challenge!  I'm interested to see what everyone comes up with!
Thanks for taking a peek and have a blessed day!

We are very, very excited for the whole event!

Beautiful Day Thinking of You ~ CCMC523, JUGS453, TGIFC172

Hello Stampers!  Today's card comes by way of the newest Create with Connie and Mary Color Challenge #523.  It's a nice mix of three new colors: Mango Melody, Pineapple Punch, and Shaded Spruce.  Last time I used Mango Melody I stated that I was not that excited about the color and then surprised myself how much I like it after the card was made.  I think I've found that this color has really grown on me.  It's not that attractive on it's own, but when combined with other colors it becomes so rich and vibrant!  I was kinda excited to use this color mix!
I decided to go with the Just Us Girls trend week challenge #453 and use the fast watercolor technique.  First you embossed your image, in my case the big flower from Beautiful Day, then you lay the color on the image straight from the pad, and then you spritz the whole thing with water and let the colors do their thing.  Really fairly easy.  I used Pineapple Punch and Mango Melody on my embossed image and then after the whole thing dried I added some Soft Suede to the middle of the flower.  I cut the leaf off the flower before laying the inks on and then replaced it after all the inks had dried.  I wanted to keep the green separate from the orange and yellow.
I also used the sketch from TGIF Challenges #172.  I followed the sketch pretty strictly.  If you look closely at the sketch you'll see a little flourish on the top panel.  I added a bit of embossing with my Lovely Floral TIEF to mimic that element.
All in all I'm happy with the way this turned out!

Here's a list of my supplies.....
Stamps: Beautiful Day, Accented Blooms (sentiment)
Ink: Mango Melody, Pineapple Punch, Shaded Spruce, Versamark, Basic Black, Soft Suede
Paper: Shaded Spruce, Wood Textures DSP, Basic Black, Watercolor, Mango Melody, Pineapple Punch
Accessories: Black embossing powder, metallic sequins, Lovely Floral TIEF, Linen Thread, Tailored Tag punch (for cuts on the banner), decorative ribbon border punch

Thanks for taking a peek and have a blessed day!

Take me to the Sea Sampler ~ GDP151

Hello Stampers! Today's project is for Global Design Project #151 theme challenge.
This project was a real joy for me to make!  I made this for my brother who recently had a birthday and just moved into a new apartment.  He wanted something to hang on his wall and gave me a few hints on what he likes: mermaids, wood, seaside, teal, twine, and copper.  I tried to incorporate all those things and more. When I showed him some examples of samplers on Pinterest he told me he liked the ones that didn't have the squares all the same size.  I'm so happy with the end result and so was he!  He was beyond excited to receive this as a gift and I was beyond happy to create it for him!  Win/win!
We framed it with a scrapbook page frame that was purchased from Amazon (not pictured).

The background paper is a 12"x 12" sheet of Springtime Foils DSP that I sponged with Coastal Cabana ink.  The Sampler Square is an 8"x 8" piece of Early Espresso.  Each bigger panel mat (Bermuda Bay) is 5" x 21/2" and the stamped panel is 4 3/4" x 2 1/4".  Each smaller square mat measures 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" and the stamped panel is 2 1/4" x 2 1/4".

Here's a list of all the supplies I used on this project....
Stamps: Picture Perfect, The Open Sea, Magical Mermaid, High Tide, Gorgeous Grunge, Waterfront, Hardwood
Ink: Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Pool Party, Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay, Cajun Craze
Paper: Bermuda Bay, Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Early Espresso, Springtime Foil DSP, Watercolor
Accessories: Bermuda Bay sequin trim, Natural trim, Burlap Ribbon, Brushed Bronze Button, Antique brad, Black library clip, Hodgepodge Hardware, Baked Brown Sugar cord, Linen Thread, Mini brad, Pearls, Copper embossing powder, black embossing powder, dimensionals

Saffron Pacific Poppy Hello ~ CCMC422, TGIFC171, AYSI131

Hello stampers!  I've got a two for one sketch challenge for our Create With Connie and Mary challenge this week.  I knew I wanted to use Accented Blooms and I wanted to incorporate the colors from TGIF challenge #171 which were So Saffron, Poppy Parade, and Pacific Point.  I also decided to watercolor again (an obsession), which is why I played along with As You See It's obsession challenge #131. I must also say that I'm obsessed with embossing folders in general but especially the basket weave one!
The first card I made is below.  After I made it I wasn't too sure about the combination of thee colors and the layout, so I redid it (above), only this time I used Blends markers and blender pens with ink pads to add the color to the flowers.  After finishing the second card, which was a bit more subtle and monochromatic, I couldn't decide which one I liked best.  I even polled my family and they came up undecided as well, so I thought I'd just go ahead a post them both!  I chose to go with the more monochromatic one as my main card for the post, since it fit the sketch just a little better.  I just love the mesh polka dot ribbon for embellishing cards like this.  It adds a bit of texture and fun but doesn't over-power the card at all.

Here's a list of my supplies.....
card #1
Stamps: Accented Blooms
Ink: Poppy Parade, Mint Macron, & Daffodil Delight Blends markers; So Saffron, Pacific Point, Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: Whisper White, So Saffron
Accessories: Polka dot tulle ribbon, Basket weave TIEF, Tailored Tag punch

card #2
Stamps: Accented Blooms
Ink: Poppy Parade, Pacific Point, So Saffron, Pear Pizzazz, Crumb Cake, Stazon Black
Paper: Watercolor, Whisper White, So Saffron, Pacific Point, Poppy Parade
Accessories: Pacific Point Stitched ribbon, Basket weave TIEF, rhinestones

So, there you have it!  Two for one sketch challenge!  I hope you'll be able to play along with us at CCMC this week!
Thanks for taking a peek and have a blessed day!

Lovely Magical Mermaid ~ CCMC521, SSC184

Hello stampers!  Welcome back to another challenge from Create with Connie and Mary!  It's color week and we have some wonderful, rich colors for you to play with.  Now, normally I'm not a pink and purple kinda person, but as I was searching for inspiation on these colors I came across a mermaid with pink and purple hair.  AHA, I thought!  I could use my {Magical Mermaid} set for these colors.  I haven't owned this set for very long, but have enjoyed playing with it.  It's not a set I would have ever gotten for myself, but I was tasked with making a project for a special birthday and they requested mermaids. I will post that project soon.  I'm thrilled with the way it turned out!!!
Anyhoo, I think this mermaid turned out fabulous done in these colors.  I embossed the image with black embossing powder on watercolor paper and then layered the color on with my aquapainter and inks.  I love the intense color you can achieve with watercolor.
I used the sketch from Sunday Stamps Challenge #186 to help me complete my card.

I don't think you can have a magical mermaid and not have some sort of glitter or sparkle, so I mixed some white glue and water and splattered it on the background with my aquapainter.  I sprinkled it with Dazzling Diamonds glitter and voila! A sparkly background.
I also added some Wink of Stella to the mermaid tail and hair.

Here's a list of my supplies....
Stamps: Magical Mermaid
Ink: Lovely Lipstick, Sahara Sand, Blackberry bliss
Paper: Lovely Lipstick, Sahara Sand, Blackberry Bliss, White, Watercolor
Accessories: Dazzling Diamonds, Stitched Shapes Framelits, Layering Circles Framelits, Ruffled TIEF
