Boyish Balloons ~ CCMC391 & The Challenge 58

Hello stampers!  Another Thursday has rolled around and that means another creative Create with Connie and Mary is here!  The week we've got a neat sketch.  To complete my card I've also used the inspiration from The Challenge #58.  The Challenge asks us to create a masculine card using the photo as inspiration.  Well, my card isn't the most masculine in the world, but you can see that I took my cue from the colors in the picture.

My card actually started with this yellow balloon from {Celebrate Today}, which was a cast off from another project and had been laying around my desk for quite some time.  I used that as my jumping off point for the sketch and added in another balloon in blue, working from The Challenge colors.
These colors are so cheerful together and are the perfect compliment to the balloons I feel!
I pulled together the dot theme by embossing the Watermelon Wonder background with the large dot embossing folder.  The designer papers have sort of a dot and dash feel as well!

Come play along with our challenge at Create with Connie and Mary this week!  We love to see what you create!

Thanks for taking a peek and have a blessed day!

Flowering Tree ~ HSS230

Hey everyone!  Another challenge for Hand Stamped Sentiments has rolled around....boy, two weeks sure does seem to fly by!  This time we have a lovely sketch for you designed by Genevieve.  It has so much potential and I can't wait to see what you all do with it!

I chose to go springy with the new Happy Home set from the 2016 Occasions Catalog.
I stamped the lovely tree scene on watercolor paper with Stazon ink.  I then watercolored using my aqua painter.  I mainly used Wild Wasabi for the grass and tree and Marina Mist and Pool Party for the sky.  I used my retired Strawberry Slush marker to color in the flowers and add a few blossoms to the tree.  I also used my Wild Wasabi and Pear Pizzazz markers to add some depth to the leaves on the tree.

For the diagonal ribbon element I used the dazzling, new Pool Party ribbon also from the Occasions Catalog.  I fussy cut three small flowers from the Happy Home set, which I watercolored with Strawberry Slush ink and added them to the card below the main panel.
The whole thing is mounted on a piece of Botanical Gardens designer vellum over some Wild Wasabi cardstock, and then layered on a piece of Pool Party.  The card base it extra thick white cardstock, which really makes everything sturdy.

I'm looking forward to seeing many neat projects in our gallery!
Thanks for taking a peek and have a blessed day!

Water Stained Rose ~ CCMC390 & TSOT254

Good morning stampers!  Here's to another Create with Connie and Mary Challenge!  This week  it's a color challenge using Real Red, Lost Lagoon and Hello Honey.  I must say that our designers have really knocked this one out of the park this week....we've got some great samples and inspiration for you at the CCMC site, so check it out!!!
I also used sketch challenge #254 at Try Stampin On Tuesday.

For this card I started out using the Rose Garden Thinlits and cut out the small rose in Real Red and the leaves from the big rose in Lost Lagoon.  I then traced around the edges of the leaves and rose on white cardstock, fussy cut them out, and sponged on the coordinating color.  After completely  sponging on the colors, I splattered water on the rose and leaves and let them dry.  Then, I adhered the die cuts on top using my two-way glue pen.
After the die cuts were glued down, I used my clear Wink Of Stella pen to add glimmer to the rose petals and leaves.

I adhered the completed rose and leaves to a piece of white cardstock with a bit of Botanical Gardens Designer vellum layered over the top.  I secured the vellum down with gold brads in each corner.
I added a beautiful sentiment from {Rose Wonder} using black Stazon ink.  The whole thing was mounted on a base of 100 lb weight thick white cardsock after it was layered with Hello Honey DSP and black borders.
Have you ever designed a card and then kept looking at it thinking, I could have added this or should have added that.....that's what I think of this card.  I wish there had been some sort of ribbon or twin added, just to take it up one more notch.  This is pretty clean and simple for me and I've never been a clean and simple kind of girl!
Thanks for taking a peek and have a blessed day!

Funky Cup ~ CCMC389 & PP277, The Card Concept 46

Hello and welcome to another fabulous challenge week with Create with Connie and Mary!
We've got a sketch challenge for you this time....
I also used the color combo from The Paper Players 277 to complete my card and the inspiration photo from The Card Concept. I was inspired by the coffee cup and the heart shape. I guess my card would be considered clean and layered.

The moment I saw this Cups and Kettle framelits die set, I knew it would be mine!  I just love this cute coffee mug, plus all the other cutouts available in the set.
I cut the mug out from the Wildflower Fields DSP available through the Sale-a-bration catalog. With any $50 purchase paper pack can be yours!  Check it out here.

I created my own patterned background paper by punch some 1/2" circle from red foil paper and then adhering them to my Melon Mambo cardstock.  I love the way this looks!
To add an extra punch of pattern, I layered some Botanical Gardens Designer Vellum (also available in the Sale-a-bration) over my Tempting Turquoise horizontal pieces. I stamped the sentiment from {Cottage Greetings} with Stazon ink directly onto the vellum.
The steam and heart on the mug are also die cut from the Cups and Kettle framelits.  The little flower is from the Itty Bitty Accents punch pack and is finished off with a black sequin center from my Metallic Sequin Assortment.
For the steam I used the curly-cue die that is meant to be an embellishment on the tea cup.  I just cut it apart and layered it together to look like steam rising from the cup!
A Nice Cuppa Photopolymer Bundle by Stampin' Up!

I hope you can play along with us at Create with Connie and Mary this week!
Thanks for taking a peek and have a blessed day!

Hardwood Botanical Blooms ~HSS229

Happy Tuesday everybody!  Today marks another Hand Stamped Sentiment Challenge.  This time's two week challenge is a color one.  The color are Elegant Eggplant, Always Artichoke and Sahara Sand.

Some of you know that purple has never been my go to color and is probably the one I use the least, but I love the way this card turned out!  I can see it done in many different colors as well!  It was super fun to make.
Here's a link to a tutorial on circle masking, which is what I did on this card.

I used new stamps from the 2016 Occasions Catalog called {Botanical Blooms}.  This is a great set of floral images with really cool leaves to go along.  It also has a coordinating die set to go along with it!  I stamped off the flowers and leaves once before stamping onto my cardstock and then stamped the regular strength ink for the centers of the flowers and veins in the leaves.
After everything was stamped I added a Sahara Sand oval from.

For a finishing touch, I added some cool shimmer with my new Wink Of Stella pen. It's kinda hard to see in the photograph, but trust me, it adds so much shimmer!  It's so pretty!!!
Lastly, I added pearls to the flower centers.

I hope you'll find time to play along with our elegant color challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments.  Remember, this is a two week challenge and you can enter as many times as you'd like!  Come on, play along!!!!
Here's a list of my supplies.....
Stamps: Hardwood, Botanical Blooms, Happy Home
Ink: Elegant Eggplant, Always Artichoke, Sahara Sand, Tip Top Taupe
Paper: White, Sahara Sand, Copy paper for masking
Accessories: Wink of Stella clear pen, Oval Framelits, basic pearls

Beautiful Blessing Botanical ~ CCMC388 & TSOT252

Hi Stampers!  Today's card is for Create with Connie and Mary's color challenge #388!  I've also thrown in the sketch from Try Stampin' On Tuesday to help me out with my card.

I really DID use Bermuda Bay and Blackberry Bliss but they kinda came out looking like Tempting Turquoise and Rich Razzleberry because of the watercolor technique I used.
I started with a piece of watercolor paper and spritzed the entire thing with water.  I then washed the colors over the wet paper....trying to add as much color as possible.  You can see that some parts of the flowers are darker then others.
After the ink dried, I cut the flowers and leaves out with the new Botanical Builder Framelits.  They are so pretty, aren't they??!! I then sponged on the coordinating colors around the edges of the flowers and leaves to give even more depth.  I also added the little black centers to the flowers making sure to curl them up with my fingers.

The flowers are arranged on a piece of DSP from Botanical Gardens which is available in the new Occasions Catalog.  The white dotted strips are from Wildflower Fields DSP pack, which is in the Sale-a-bration catalog.
The sentiment comes from another fabulous new set in the Occasions Catalog called {Rose Wonder}.
The flowers were finished off with iced rhinestones and regular rhinestones.

I hope you be able to play along with us at CCMC!
Thanks for taking a peek and have a blessed day!
