Shiny Butterflies ~ SSSC179

I made this card for Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 179.  It also fits into Create with Connie and Mary 242 using Raspberry Ripple, Primrose Petals, and Summer Starfruit.
2013 Thursday Challenges-005
I loved this sketch the moment I laid eyes on it.  I've been on a layered flag kick lately and this was just up my alley.  You could do so many cool things with this sketch and I'm sure everyone will!  I can't wait to see what turns up in the gallery link!
I started with the butterflies from the Kindness Matters set.  These were actually made to go on another card, but they weren't working for that, so I set them aside for another time.  I stamped them in Stazon Black ink, colored them with markers, cut them out and then oozed Crystal Effects on each one.  I like the 3-D effect it gives.  The Primrose Petals circle was another scrap I had laying on my desk.  I added a vanilla scalloped circle that I ran through the Big Shot with my Square Lattice EF and secured the butterflies on it with mini glue dots.  I stamped one of the Elements of Style images on the Raspberry Ripple card base in Primrose ink, then layered on a Primrose piece that I had embossed with my Chevron EF, added the fun banners made for the Print Poetry DP, and put on the little strip of Summer Starfruit cardstock tied up with vanilla string.  The last thing was to add the Thinking Of You banner.  This card came together very easily, and I love it when that happens!  You will definitely be seeing this sketch again from me!

Happy Orange Flower ~ PDCC171 & FMS75

I thought the color combo over at Play Date Cafe was interesting this week and was determined to play along.  I used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches too.
I had this awesome polka dotted Tangerine Tango designer paper from Scaringbone & Howlingstooth paper pack and wanted to use it for a fun project....this fit the bill.  Stampin' Up doesn't have a mint color in their line-up anymore, so I used the closest thing I had, which was some retired Sage Shadow designer paper.  I think it works though!  For the light peach I used Peach Parfait.

Here's a list of supplies.....

Paper: Peach Parfait, Scaringbone & Howlingstooth and Sage Shadow DP

Fun Thanks

It's another happy Saturday and time for the latest Dynamic Duos color challenge!  This week is the soft and subtle combo of So Saffron and Certainly Celery.  I did not have any Certainly Celery left in my stash, so I subbed in Pear Pizzaz.  My jumping off point was the color combo of course, but I mixed in the sketch from Try Stampin' On Tuesday.
I thought the cute little trike from the Moving Forward set would be a nice fit for this cheerful color combo.  I also found some fun designer paper from Floral District and Pawsatively Prints II to get this card going.  I stamped the trike in Pear Pizzaz, cut it out with a labels die and layered it on a hand cut label.  Sometimes the next size up die is to large for layering on a project, so I traced around the outside of the same die I used on the trike and did some hand cutting.  This makes a nice little layering piece.  I added the punched flowers for a 3-D ellement.  The one below the basket is placed there because of an ink smear.  I was happy to find a way to cover it up!  The little frog layered on punch circles brings a little more whimsy and fun.  The last thing   I did was add some glitter glue to the frog's hop trail, and the trike.

Make sure you pop on over and visit the blogs of the other design team members!  They have all delivered tons of inspiration!
