Blue Zoo Review ~ DD53 & PPA

Just one more card for Dynamic Duos 53.   I used the sketch from Pals Paper Arts 159, too.
PPA159w-frameI have had this zebra embossing folder for over a year and had yet to use it.  I've definitly wanted to try inking the folder with black ink then running it through the Big Shot.  I think it turned out cool and looks really good with Pacific Point.  I kinda purchased the Zoo Review set just because I had these animal print folders (I have a couple other textures too) and figured they would coordinate.  I also used a couple ticket stamps to carry over the zoo theme.  A litte corduroy button adds another element of texture.

Here's a list of supplies....
Stamps: Zoo Review, That's the Ticket
Paper: Pacific Point, Black, White
Ink: Pacific Point, Black
Accessories: Pacific Point corduroy button, Black grosgrain ribbon, Ticket punch, Lattice border punch, Zebra print EF, bakers twine

Whale Thanks! ~ DD53 & RS64

This card is for Dynamic Duos 53 Black Tie Challenge using Pacific Point and Black & Retro Sketches 64.

I havn't used my little whale as much as I thought I would, so when I saw this color challenge I figured it would be the perfect time to pull him out.  I browsed around for a sketch to use and settled upon Retro Sketches.  I struggled a little with incorporating the banner/ribbon peice on the side, but finally came up with this silver cord and placed the anchor on the bottom of it.  Otherwise, I'm pretty pleased with the way it turned out.  I had some punched silver glimmer circles laying on my desk from a previous project, and used them up placing them here and there over my embossed background.

Here's a list of my supplies....
Stamps: Oh, Whale
Paper: Black, Pacific Point, White, Silver Glimmer
Ink: Pacific Point, Black
Accessories: Braided silver cord, circle punch, scallop border punch, bitty banners framelit, big dots EF, Clouds EF, Whale die, Corner rounder punch, Sponge dauber

One More for DD's Anniversary

Here's one more card for the Dynamic Duos one year anniversary challenge.  I used combo #49 of Basic Gray and Basic Black.

I made this for my son Zach who just recently turned 15.  My husband owns an excavating business and Zach is his right hand man when it come to digging in the dirt.  The minute this set came out in the SU catalog (which was a few years ago) I knew I had to own it!  It was a perfect match for the guys in my family and I have used it many a time for special things for all of them.  The color scheme is fairly simple, so I tried to add special accents to jazz it up.  I fussy cut the bucket and main part of the excavator and popped them up on dimsionals.  Then I added silver brads....lots and lots of them.  The bigger ones are from a set I recently purchased from the clearance rack.  A mix of gray patterned papers, a birthday banner and button, and some manly dry embossing completes this card.

Here's a list of supplies....
Stamps: I Dig You
Paper: Black, Gray, White, assorted DP
Ink: Black, Gray
Accessories: Silver brads, 3/8" silver brads, metal EF, neutral button

Sassy Grad ~ DD52 & FM109

Dynamic Duos is celebrating!  To commerate their one year anniversary, we get to pick any past DD color combo.  I did a six month stint as a designer at DD, so I have a special affection for these challenges!  I chose to go with color combo #7...Melon Mambo and Basic Black.

Graduation is still the name of the game for me lately.  I am almost done, however....whew!  My grand total is up to 19 graduation cards! We live in a small, rural community and I have teenagers, so we have recieved several graduation announcements.  I also have a middle school grad this year, so that means gifts for his fellow classmates.
For this card I used the sketch from The Friday Mashup....I missed the deadline by just a couple of hours though!  Shoot!

I've had this fun black and white paper that I bought at Hobby Lobby for quite a while now.  I've mainly only used it in the spring for graduation cards, and here it is again!  I thought the leopard print was really fun and goes well with the bright Melon Mambo.  I was trying to come up with some different combos of stamps for my grad cards also.  I'm the kind of girl who likes to make one and be done.  I hardly ever make mulitples of the same card.  This fun little phrase from Pure Gumption fit just perfectly into the modern label punch, which fit perfectly into the medallion from the valentine stamp set Affection Collection.  The little No. 1 banner is also from Affection Collection.  I think the two sets fit nicely together!

Here's a list of all my supplies.....
Stamps: Pure Gumption, Affection Collection
Paper: Melon Mambo, Floral District & Recollections DP, Black, White
Ink: Black, Melon Mambo
Accessories: 1/4" black ribbon, rhinestones, circle cutter, modern label punch

Happy Anniversary Dynamic Duos!

Great Pure Gumption ~ FMS85 & SR175

Here's another graduation card....'tis the season!  I have 16 to make and give, plus I've had a couple orders too.  This one combines Freshly Made Sketches 85 and Stampin' Royalty 175.

Stampin Royalty was a photo inspiration, and I mainly just used the color scheme.
I used a sentiment from Pure Gumption and stamped it onto a die cut from the Apothecary Art die set.  I used my paper pierce pack to pierce the white piece.  For the banners, I used a stamp from Great Grads, stamped it in Pool Party and Early Espresso and cut out the banner shapes.  I mounted the coordinating color behind them.  A scrap from the Sent With Love DSP was the perfect backdrop for the main medallion and I added on some dazzling diamonds glitter, rhinestone brads, and Pool Party ribbon to finish the card off.

Here's a list of supplies....

Paper: Sent With Love DSP, Pool Party, Early Espresso, White

Blue & Yellow Baby ~ DD51 & JAI164

This card is for Dynamic Duos 51 & Just Add Ink 164.
The minute I saw the color combo from DD I thought baby boy.  I had also seen some cards floating around the internet using the That's The Ticket set in a similar manner.  To incorporate the tickets into the sketch, I had to use a 5 1/2"x11" card base.  They fit very nicely on it!

I'll let you in on a little secret.....the stars were not part of my original plan.  I initially put the bow and corduroy brad on the top of the circle but decided I didn't like the way it looked.  When I pulled it off, it took a little paper with it.  I was more satisfied with the bow below the sentiment, but now I needed something to cover up my mistake.  Stars to the rescue!  They actually work out well with the baby boy theme.  It turned out to be a happy accident!

Here's a list of all my supplies....
Stamps: Word Play, That's The Ticket
Paper: Baja Breeze, Daffodil Delight, White
Ink: Baja Breeze, Daffodil Delight
Accessories: Stars #2 die, Ticket Punch, Corduroy Brad, Daffodil Seam Binding Ribbon, Scallop Circle dies, Circles #2 Die, Shimmer spray

I'm making in the MM challenge just by the skin of my teeth.  I didn't think I'd get to participate and then I saw the color combo that Sunday Stamps came out with today.....need I say it again?  One of my favs!!!!!!!  I had this idea and ran down to my stamping room and hammered it out.  I'm pleased with the outcome!  I'm not going to go into specifics because I need to keep this post short....It's pretty self explanitory anyway!

Go Confidently Grad ~ Mojo291, PPA158, & FM108

Good morning stampers! I made this card for Mojo Monday 291, Pals Paper Arts 158 & The Friday Mashup 108.
PoolStarfruitLimeade

Mojo Monday was one of the other sketch challenges I wanted to participate in this week.  I guess I love a sketch with banners.  When I saw the sketch, I knew I wanted to make an accordian rosette (that's what I'm calling it, because I don't know the technical term right now and am too lazy to look it up!) for the main circle part.  I need lots and lots of graduation cards right now, so The Friday Mashup was a perfect fit.  The color palette at PPA was right up my alley too.  I seem to be gravitating toward those at the moment.  Summer Starfruit was a color that, when it first came out, I thought was yucky and ugly.  It's funny how things grow on you.  I actually really enjoy playing with it now and have used it a lot!

This is going to be one of those cards that goes in a gift bag....it has a lot of height to it with that rosette!

Here's a list of all my supplies.....
Stamps: Word Play, The Open Sea
Paper: Lucky Limeade textured, White, Sent With Love DP, In-Color DP
Accessories: Lucky Limeade bakers twine, Score Tool, Scallop Circle die, Circle Cutter, Chevron EF

Butterfly Inspire ~ RS62 & PDC39

Hello fellow stampers!  This card is for Retro Sketches 62 and The Play Date Cafe 39

The Play Date Cafe's color combo is black and white with a splash of magenta.  I used Raspberry Ripple for the color splash.  I stuck to the sketch pretty closely and kept it simple.  I embossed the background DP with my Vintage Wallpaper EF and then rubbed it with my Illuminate ink pad for some extra shimmer.  I stamped the butterfly, from Best Of Butterflies, in Stazon Ink on watercolor paper and used my marker and blender pen to add the color.  I painted on some Frost White Shimmer paint here and there on the wings for some more shimmer.  Lastly, I added a line of rhinestones to the body of the butterfly.

Here's a list of my supplies....
Stamps: Best of Butterflies, Perfect Words
Paper: Black, White, Night and Day DP, Silver Shimmer
Ink: Stazon Black, Raspberry Ripple, Illuminate
Accessories: Vintage Wallpaper EF, Black Satin Ribbon, Rhinestones, Frost White Shimmer Paint

Phone Cover Inspired

I made this card for Sunday Stamps Challenge 46.  I loved the sketch right off the bat and I've had this idea rolling around in my head for a while.  It was totally inspired by my cell phone cover.  Here's the only bad thing....I missed the SSC deadline...bummer.

I started by stamping a couple of flowers in versamark and embossed them in black.  I then masked them off and did the background stamping with several different stamps.  I painted bleach on the flower petals, let it dry and made some yellow "swooshes" on each petal, as well as colored the center.  Next, I put all my layers together, wrapped some linen thread at the top, and added a button and sentiment tag.

Here's a list of my supplies....
Stamps: Fabulous Florets, French Foliage, Everything Eleanor, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Paper: Summer Starfruit, Midnight Muse, Lucky Limeade (textured), Vanilla; Floral District, Print Poetry & In-Color DP
Ink: Black, Midnight Muse, Versamark, Summer Starfruit, Lucky Limeade
Accessories: Black EP, Linen Thread, Neutral button, Tiny Tag Punch, bleach

Five Petal Flower Fun ~ CCMC250 & PP143

Hello stampers!  Today's card is for Create with Connie and Mary color challenge 250 & The Paper Players sketch challenge 143.
2013 Thursday Challenges-013

There are several sketch challenges that I wanted to participate in this week and this was one of them.  Most of them have banners in the sketch....I guess you could say it's a banner week!  LOL!  Anyway, here is one of many I hope to get done, so stay tuned!  Also, as luck would have it, the colors at CCMC this week happened to be a few I had laying out on my desk already.  Mostly because they are a couple of the colors from the new Sent With Love bundle.  I had pulled out these two designer papers because I thought they coordinated well together.  I also happened to have a gray base card already cut and folded  waiting to be used.  Kismet!  Love that!  When I looked at the sketch, I decided I wanted to use flowers for the circle shapes.  I punched out individual petals from the Blossom Petals punch, kinda folded or molded them around a pen to add some dimension and attatched them to a big glue dot on a punch circle.  The littler flower is from the Island Floral die.  I snipped a line inbetween each petal and formed them the same way as the bigger flower petals.  I wanted to stick with all ribbon for the banners, but the only ribbon in Calypso Coral I own is the 1/4" sheer ribbon from the Sell-a-bration catalog last year.  I just wouldn't work here, so I subbed in a embossed piece of cardstock.  A button and brad to finish of the flower centers and the leaf die complete my card.

Here's a list of all my supplies....
Stamps: none
Paper: Gray, Calypso Coral, Sent With Love DP
Ink: None
Accessories: Little Leaves & Island Floral Die, Gray satin & Sycamore Street ribbon, Sycamore Street button, Everyday Enchantment brad, Circle punches, Fancy Fan EF, Blossom Petals punch
