Americana Flowers ~ HSS242, WWYS72, PPA308

Hello my fellow stampers!!!  Happy Tuesday!  Today's card is for Hand Stamped Sentiments Challenge #242: a color challenge.
With a red, white and blue color combo one tends to think about stars and stripes, the 4th of July, or nautical....at least I do anyway!  I really tried my best to think outside the box and not go there.  I saw What Will You Stamp challenge #72 using {You're Sublime} and I thought perhaps I could blend the two challenges!  I also found Pals Paper Arts #308, which was a nice sketch challenge.  I REALLY love it when I can combine several challenges into one!  It's so fun!
ppa308

I took a country/Americana type approach with this card.  I colored the flowers and wheel barrow with my blender pen and ink pads.
The pin-dot Cherry Cobbler background paper adds the country feel, as well as the barnwood paper (which I sponged) and the burlap ribbon.
The new banner punch was just right to add the sentiment on top of the flowers.

I added some Crystal Effects (now retired ... boo) to the flowers to make them stand out just a little bit more.

Here's a list of my supplies....
Stamps: You're Sublime, Thoughtful Banners
Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Dapper Denim, Crumb Cake, So Saffron, Stazon Black
Paper: Dapper Denim, Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla, Farmers Market DSP
Accessories: Blender pen, Banner punch, Oval Framelits, Burlap Ribbon, Ruched Ribbon, Crystal Effects

I hope you'll be able to join us at Hand Stamped Sentiments and remember, the challenge runs for two weeks!
Thanks for taking a peek and have a blessed day!

Autumn Lovely Tree ~ PPA177 & JUGS212

I made this card for Pals Paper Arts 177 sketch challenge. This also works for Just Us Girls photo inspiration challenge 212.  For some reason I couldn't get the JUGS challenge photo to appear on my post.  You'll have to jump on over to the site to see the photo...it's pretty!
PPA177
The sketch is pretty simple and lends itself to all kinds of ideas.  I'm on fall kick, trying to come up with simple cards to do for my card classes.  I wanted to try some water coloring with my class, which is so easy and fun to do.  I started by cutting the big tag from Chalk Talk die set out of watercolor paper.  I stamped the tree in black Stazon ink and then watercolored using my aquapainter.  It's so super simple!!!
I sponged all the edges with Baked Brown Sugar ink and topped the tag with a looped piece of Burlap Ribbon and a Naturals Button.  I layered it on a piece of Tangerine Tango CS after I ran it through the Big Shot with the tree bark EF.  I also sponged it with a bit of BBS ink.  Lastly, I stamped the BBS card base with the wood look stamp from Truly Grateful and added a little banner made from Sweater Weather DSP.

Here's a list of my supplies....

Stamps: Lovely As A Tree, Truly Grateful
Paper: Baked Brown Sugar, Tangerine Tango, Watercolor, Sweater Weather DSP
Ink: Black Stazon, Baked Brown Sugar
Accessories: Naturals Designer button, Chalk Talk die, Woodgrain EF, Burlap Ribbon

Black & Pool Just For You ~ PPA168 & DD66

This card is for Dynamic Duos 66 and I also incorporated the sketch from Pals Paper Arts 168 loosely.
PPA168
I used my Gifts of Kindness set for the first time.  What a cute flower to use....the possibilities are endless.  I went for a fast and simple card this time, so there was no embellishing the flower.  I love that the image has a dot pattern on it and I mimicked that with the black polka dot DSP.

Here's a list of supplies...
Stamps: Gifts of Kindness, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Paper: Pool Party, Black, White, Sent With Love DSP, Day & Night DSP
Ink: Pool Party, Black
Accessories: Sycamore Street button, black bakers twine, Pool Party ruffled ribbon, Framelits Oval dies, Top Note die

Bright and Bold and Fun! ~ PPA168 & CTD255

I've always loved and wanted to make a card with the main colors being Pacific Point and Melon Mambo...Color Throwdown provided that chance....only they had to throw a curveball and add Tangerine Tango. :(  I struggled to get it added in there, but I suppose it works.  Also, I didn't have Pixie Pink, so I subbed in Pretty in Pink.
I love the flowers in the Too Kind set.  They are so easy to use and really make a bold statement!  It's a real fun flower set.

Pals came up with a great sketch this week....it's so very versatile!  There are many great example in the gallery with tons of inspiration!
I kind of took on a polka dot theme with this card.  Big polka dots embossed on the blue base, ribbon and DSP and of course the little polka dot embossed butterfly.

Stamps: Too Kind, Chalk Talk
Paper: Tempting Turquoise DSP (Pawsatively Prints), Pacific Point, Tangerine Tango, Melon Mambo, White
Ink: Tempting Turquoise, Pacific Point, Melon Mambo, Pretty in Pink, Tangerine Tango, Pistachio Pudding
Accessories: Beautiful Wings embosslits, Melon Mambo polka dot ribbon, Big Dot EF, Circle punches, Circles Famelits, rhinestones, Scallop Border punch

Lana's BIG Birthday! NAC52 & PPA161

My sister-in-law turns 50 in a couple days, so I made this card for her.  I just got a new box of goodies in the mail, including the Chalk Talk stamps and it couldn't have been more perfect.  Turning 50 IS a big day!  I used the sketch from Pals Paper Arts 161 (which I missed the cut-off for....oh well)  and the colors from Nacho Average Challenge 52.  It's been a while since I've got to play there, so I'm happy!
PPA161w-frameNac52

I added in a little drink from Happy Hour, along with the strawberry and umbrella to accomodate the color combo.  This ties in nicely with the theme of my SIL's birthday.  I'm possitive there will be some drinks like this served.  I added Crystal Effects to the glass.  My Crystal Effects must be getting old, because it looks a little cloudy.  I'm not real happy about that.....
I also added some glitter glue to the umbrella and strawberry.

Here's a list of the supplies....
Stamps: Chalk Talk, Positively Chevron, Happy Hour
Paper: Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay, Pool Party, Sent With Love DSP
Ink: White Craft, Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay, Pool Party
Accessories: White EP, Big Dot EF, 1 3/8" circle punch, Circle #2 die, Crystal Effects, Glitter glue

Blue Zoo Review ~ DD53 & PPA

Just one more card for Dynamic Duos 53.   I used the sketch from Pals Paper Arts 159, too.
PPA159w-frameI have had this zebra embossing folder for over a year and had yet to use it.  I've definitly wanted to try inking the folder with black ink then running it through the Big Shot.  I think it turned out cool and looks really good with Pacific Point.  I kinda purchased the Zoo Review set just because I had these animal print folders (I have a couple other textures too) and figured they would coordinate.  I also used a couple ticket stamps to carry over the zoo theme.  A litte corduroy button adds another element of texture.

Here's a list of supplies....
Stamps: Zoo Review, That's the Ticket
Paper: Pacific Point, Black, White
Ink: Pacific Point, Black
Accessories: Pacific Point corduroy button, Black grosgrain ribbon, Ticket punch, Lattice border punch, Zebra print EF, bakers twine

Go Confidently Grad ~ Mojo291, PPA158, & FM108

Good morning stampers! I made this card for Mojo Monday 291, Pals Paper Arts 158 & The Friday Mashup 108.
PoolStarfruitLimeade

Mojo Monday was one of the other sketch challenges I wanted to participate in this week.  I guess I love a sketch with banners.  When I saw the sketch, I knew I wanted to make an accordian rosette (that's what I'm calling it, because I don't know the technical term right now and am too lazy to look it up!) for the main circle part.  I need lots and lots of graduation cards right now, so The Friday Mashup was a perfect fit.  The color palette at PPA was right up my alley too.  I seem to be gravitating toward those at the moment.  Summer Starfruit was a color that, when it first came out, I thought was yucky and ugly.  It's funny how things grow on you.  I actually really enjoy playing with it now and have used it a lot!

This is going to be one of those cards that goes in a gift bag....it has a lot of height to it with that rosette!

Here's a list of all my supplies.....
Stamps: Word Play, The Open Sea
Paper: Lucky Limeade textured, White, Sent With Love DP, In-Color DP
Accessories: Lucky Limeade bakers twine, Score Tool, Scallop Circle die, Circle Cutter, Chevron EF

Take Care Blue Bird ~ PPA157 & CCMC248

Today's card is for Pals Paper Arts 157 and Create with Connie and Mary 248.  I don't think I've participated with either challenge for quite a bit, especially Pals.
PPA157
I flipped the sketch on it's side because I wanted to use one of my newer stamp sets, Take Care.  I've been looking at it in the catalog for a while now and decided to finally get it.  I stamped and cut out the little bird from Everything Eleanor and set it on the branch.  I added a couple of punched flowers to the branch to bring in the Summer Starfruit color.  The background is a piece of Summer Starfruit DSP that I ran through my Honeycomb EF.  I added a strip of Gumball Green after I had stamped it with the nest image in Gumball Green ink.  I added some Gumball ribbon and then layered a bow over some Linen Thread and another punched flower.  A few pearls to dot the center of the flowers and the birds eye and this card was done!

Here's a complete list of the supplies....
Stamps: Take Care, Everything Eleanor
Paper: Midnight Muse, Summer Starfruit, Gumball Green, White, In Color DSP
Ink: Midnight Muse, Gumball Green, Crumb Cake
Accessories: Itty Bitty Punch Pack, Linen Thread, Gumball Green ribbon, Pearls, Honeycomb EF, Ovals Framelits

I Care Eleanore ~ PPA147 & CR84FN67

This card was created for Pals Paper Arts 147 and CR84FN 67.  There's not much to say about this card other than it's not my favorite.  I think I just have trouble with the color purple.  I tried to create something pretty, but I'm just not feeling it.  Maybe someone else can appreciate this one more that I can.

Growing Green with PPA130 & RS1

Here's another double challenge card!  I just love it when that happens!!!  The colors are from Pals Paper Arts #130 which challenged us to use Always Artichoke, Lucky Limeade and another color of our choice.  As you can see I chose So Saffron.  I just love the look of green and yellow together.  The second challenge is a BRAND NEW sketch challenge site called Retro Sketches.  This is for Retro Sketches #1.  This site looks like it's gonna be a lot of fun and they sure started out with a great sketch.  I used the layered marker technique on the leafy stamp.
