Hello World ~ CCMC400, JUGS336, The Challenge 66, TSOT264

Hey stampers!  It's Thursday again and that means another Create with Connie and Mary Challenge!
It's color week....here are our colors.....

I also used the inspiration from Just Us Girls #336 and The Challenge #66 and the sketch from Try Stampin' on Tuesday #264.

The colors in the JUGS photo were similar to our colors and I took inspiration in the weathered wood posts and water theme.  I used the wood DSP from my much loved Farmers Market pack.  In The Challenge #66 photo I drew  inspiration from the wooden anchor and the sailing ship, which ties into {The Open Sea} set that I used.  The Challenge #66 is also a masculine challenge....I think my card is pretty masculine.
I did a lot of sponging on this card.  In fact, just about every single piece of cardstock I used is sponged...except for the black "hello".  I sponged around the edges of the wood DSP with Sahara Sand and Crumb Cake and then added some light streaks of Delightful Dijon and Lost Lagoon to add to the weathered wood look and tie in the colors.
I stamped the globe and anchor in stazon ink and colored them with my blender pens and ink pads.  I cut each out by hand and sponged each with Sahara Sand ink.  The globe is layered on two die cut Delightful Dijon sponged circles.
I stamped the ledger stamp from {The Open Sea} with Early Espresso ink onto the Lost Lagoon strip.  I sponged the edges of it with Crumb Cake ink.
I tied the anchor on with some Linen Thread which I layered between the two Dijon circles.

I hope you'll get to play with us at Create with Connie and Mary this week....I can't wait to see what you come up with!
Thanks for taking a peek and have a blessed day!

You're My Anchor ~ CMCC75

Hello, or should I say Ahoy!  LOL!  It's Wednesday and time for another new Colour Me challenge.  This weeks colors are Night of Navy and Real Red.

I just couldn't resist going nautical.  I wanted to incorporate the old wood look, so I stamped my hardwood stamp with Crumb Cake ink onto Crumb Cake cardstock and then cut each plank out individually.  I distressed the ends of each plank and sponged them.  After I adhered them out on a scrap piece of paper, I ran it through my big shot using a square framelit to cut out a center window.
Them I used some sandpaper and sanded the planks to make them look even more distressed.

I kept everything else fairly simple as far as the stamping goes.  The type in the background is from an old set called {Daring Adventure}.  The anchor is from {The Open Sea}.  I wish I had a sentiment to go with it, like the one from a new set called {Guy Greetings}....I may just need to purchase that set!
I made this a shaker card to give it a little something extra.  I put clear seed beads in the shaker...they are sorta hard to see in the photo.
Lastly, I added some red bakers twine for a small accent.

Make sure you hop over and check out the creations made by my fellow Colour Me designers!  They are fab!!!!

Thanks for taking a peek and have a blessed day!!!!

Nautical and Nice ~ Card Concept #12 & The Challenge #9

Today's card come to you by way of The Card Concept #12, which used a nautical theme, and The Challenge #9 sketch.
I had so much fun mixing patterns and prints here.  My original inspiration was a clean and simple picture, and that was my intention...to do a clean and simple card...but I guess it's just not me!  This is what I ended up with and I would guess it's clean and layering (according to The Card Concept).
I just got my Kinda Eclectic stamp set in the mail and was anxious to use it.  I thought the sun/starburst image would look kinda neat behind the anchor, and I think I was right.  I like it!  And, the polka dot image is sure to be a favorite of mine.  I think it looks fabulous combined with the chevron image from Work of Art.

Here's a list of my supplies....
Stamps: Kinda Eclectic, Banner Blast, The Open Sea, Work of Art
Ink: Hello Honey, Real Red, Midnight Muse
Paper: White, Real Red, Midnight Muse DSP, Moonlight DSP pack
Accessories: Banner punch, Baked Brown Sugar bakers twine, Itty Bitty Accents punch pack, Large Polka Dot EF

Go Confidently Grad ~ Mojo291, PPA158, & FM108

Good morning stampers! I made this card for Mojo Monday 291, Pals Paper Arts 158 & The Friday Mashup 108.
PoolStarfruitLimeade

Mojo Monday was one of the other sketch challenges I wanted to participate in this week.  I guess I love a sketch with banners.  When I saw the sketch, I knew I wanted to make an accordian rosette (that's what I'm calling it, because I don't know the technical term right now and am too lazy to look it up!) for the main circle part.  I need lots and lots of graduation cards right now, so The Friday Mashup was a perfect fit.  The color palette at PPA was right up my alley too.  I seem to be gravitating toward those at the moment.  Summer Starfruit was a color that, when it first came out, I thought was yucky and ugly.  It's funny how things grow on you.  I actually really enjoy playing with it now and have used it a lot!

This is going to be one of those cards that goes in a gift bag....it has a lot of height to it with that rosette!

Here's a list of all my supplies.....
Stamps: Word Play, The Open Sea
Paper: Lucky Limeade textured, White, Sent With Love DP, In-Color DP
Accessories: Lucky Limeade bakers twine, Score Tool, Scallop Circle die, Circle Cutter, Chevron EF

Thanks for taking a peek!

Dynamic Duos #40

Good Saturday morning everyone!  It's time for a new Dynamic Duos Challenge!  It's black tie week with the dessert option of adding clouds to your design.  The challenge colors are Tempting Turquoise and Basic Black.
Ahhhhh, I'm back in my comfort zone with this card.  The last couple DD challenges have been challenges for me.  I think it's because I went in more of a clean and simple direction for them.  This one came together effortlessly, which is shocking to me because turquoise is not a color I play with often.  I browsed my stamps and spotted the Open Sea set.  This could work with clouds, I thought to myself.  I stamped the ship on a vanilla oval, cut from the Ovals Framelits die, and added the clouds with Tempting Turquoise chalk.  My template was a cloud shape I hand cut from a post-it note.  I decided to add in a neutral color to soften things up and make it a little more vintage looking.  The second oval was cut from Sahara Sand cardstock.  I sponged everything with Crumb Cake ink.  I used the rest of the stamps in the Open Sea set to stamp a background piece and ran it through the Big Shot using my Square Lattice EF.  I added a few "fussies" in the form of the new Natural Trim, Linen Thread, Tiny Tags, a fussy cut anchor, and some pewter square brads.  I love, love, love the way this came together!

All of the Dynamic Duos Designers have come up with creative cards this week, so make sure you visit their blogs too!
