Bunny Ears ~ RS52 and CCMC240

What a challenge!!!!  I was so excited to play along with the color challenge at Create with Connie and Mary and had a totally different idea in mind but after much trial and tribulation, this is what emerged.  I started with butterflies, switched over to flowers, then ended up with this bunny.  Have you ever done that??  I just got to the point where it is what it is.  I also wanted to participate in Retro Sketches 52, where we get to pick any past sketch.  I chose sketch #36.

Island Poppies ~ DD41 & FMS74

Hello everyone!  It's Dynamic Duos Saturday again and we have a fabulous monochromatic color combo for you this week....Island Indigo and Pool Party!
I also used the sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches to help me along.
Layers is the name of the game for my card this week.  I started by stamping the Medallion stamp in Sahara Sand, then layered French Script in Pool Party and finally stamped the Pleasant Poppies in Stazon Black ink.  I stamped the poppies again on a piece watercolor paper, colored the poppy heads with markers, using the layered marker technique, and fussy cut each head out.  I popped them up with  dimentionals after spritzing them with Champagne Shimmer spray.  They look so pretty all sparkled up!  I also colored the poppy stems with a Sahara Sand marker.  Lastly, I added some layered ribbon to the bottom corner as well as a few pearls.

Here's a list of my supplies.....
Stamps: Pleasant Poppies, Medallion, French Script
Paper: Island Indigo, Pool Party, Very Vanilla, Watercolor
Ink: Pool Party, Sahara Sand, Stazon Black, Island Indigo

Mojo 281 For Reilly

Mojo Monday 281 is what inspired this card.
It will be going to my son's best friend, Reilly, who is at basic training for the guards in South Carolina.  We miss him terribly and he, too, has a small case of home sickness.  I hope this cheers him up a little!  He is part of the "Wolf Pack" (at least that's what his address is) so I thought this stamp was appropriate!

I watercolored the wolf's with my blender pen and watercolor pencils using tans and grays.  I tried to stick with masculine colors and accessories.

Here's a list of my supplies....
Stamps: In Wilderness, Perfect Words
Paper: Midnight Muse, Sahara Sand, Basic Black, Very Vanilla, Watercolor, In Color and Houndstooth & Scaringbone DP
Ink: Midnight Muse, Stazon Black
Accessories: Watercolor Pencils, Blender Pen, Neutral button, Natural Trim, Linen Thread, Oval Punches, 1 3/4" Circle punch, Circles #2 die, Chevron EF

Just Wanted You To Know ~ JAI153 & RS51

I made this card for Just Add Ink 153 and Retro Sketches 51

I love the color combo of anything with dark blue, especially the new Midnight Muse.  It's so rich and elegant looking.  I also thought this vintage looking designer paper would serve as a nice frame for the sketch for RS this week!  I had to add in the Midnight Muse banner in the paisly designer paper, just because it was a perfect match with the little yellow accents in it.

To tie in the vintage feel, I used crochet trim and three different buttons, which makes it sort of shabby chic.
The inside of the card says, I'm praying for you.  Unfortuately I've been in need of several sympathy cards lately and I've also had some orders for some, so that may be the theme I will be focusing on for a while.

Here's a list of supplies....
Stamps: Everything Eleanor, Card Chatter-Sympathy
Paper: So Saffron, Midnight Muse, Print Party DP
Ink: So Saffron, Midnight Muse
Accessories: Crochet Trim, Assorted Buttons, Linen Thread, Blue Half Pearl

NAC #13 ~ Hello!

I made this card for Nacho Average Challenge #13.....but, I'm blogging a couple hours too late!  I missed the deadline, darn-it anyway!  Oh well, I like how this card turned out and someone will enjoy recieving it!
NAC33
I started with the stamped panel.  I stamped the boquet from Bordering on Romance on watercolor paper and then embossed it with Early Espresso EP.  I colored it in with the layered marker technique, blending the colors with my blender pen.  The watercolor paper makes this technique work so well.  I love the rich, deep color you can achieve with the markers.  I layered it on a rectangle of Primrose Petals cardstock after stpritzing it with Champagne Shimmer spray and added a little sliver of Summer Starfruit, punch from a scalloped border.  Next I cut three squares of Midnight Muse In Color designer paper and layered them on a strip of Midnight Muse.  For the background peice I used a fun designer paper from the new paper stack in the Spring SU catalog.  I can't remember the name of the paper right at the moment.  The last thing was the Primrose ribbon with the delicate bow, brad and tiny tag.

Here's my list of supplies.....
Stamps: Bordering On Romance, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Paper: Midnight Muse, Primrose Petals, In Color DP, New Spring DP pack, Summer Starfruit, Watercolor
Ink: Pear Pizzaz, Lucky Limeade, Primrose Petals, Raspberry Ripple, Baja Breeze, Midnight Muse, River Rock, Summer Starfruit, VersaMark
Accessories: Primrose Petals satin ribbon, Champagne Shimmer spray, Lucky Limeade Brad, Tiny Tag punch, Dotted Scallop ribbon punch

Dynamic Duos #40

Good Saturday morning everyone!  It's time for a new Dynamic Duos Challenge!  It's black tie week with the dessert option of adding clouds to your design.  The challenge colors are Tempting Turquoise and Basic Black.
Ahhhhh, I'm back in my comfort zone with this card.  The last couple DD challenges have been challenges for me.  I think it's because I went in more of a clean and simple direction for them.  This one came together effortlessly, which is shocking to me because turquoise is not a color I play with often.  I browsed my stamps and spotted the Open Sea set.  This could work with clouds, I thought to myself.  I stamped the ship on a vanilla oval, cut from the Ovals Framelits die, and added the clouds with Tempting Turquoise chalk.  My template was a cloud shape I hand cut from a post-it note.  I decided to add in a neutral color to soften things up and make it a little more vintage looking.  The second oval was cut from Sahara Sand cardstock.  I sponged everything with Crumb Cake ink.  I used the rest of the stamps in the Open Sea set to stamp a background piece and ran it through the Big Shot using my Square Lattice EF.  I added a few "fussies" in the form of the new Natural Trim, Linen Thread, Tiny Tags, a fussy cut anchor, and some pewter square brads.  I love, love, love the way this came together!

All of the Dynamic Duos Designers have come up with creative cards this week, so make sure you visit their blogs too!

Here's a list of my supplies....
Stamps: The Open Sea
Paper: Basic Black, Tempting Turquoise, Very Vanilla, Sahara Sand
Ink: Black, Turquoise, Crumb Cake
Accessories: Naturals Trim, Pewter Square Brads, Linen Thread, Tiny Tag punch, Oval Framelits die, Square Lattice EF

Retro Sketches 50 & The Paper Players 132

This card is for Retro Sketches 50 and The Paper Players 132.  I havn't had a chance to play in either challenge for quite a while now.

I loved the fun color combo and sketch, but I need some generic thinking of you cards, so that's the direction I headed.  I started by inking up my Lacy Brocade EF with Primrose Petals ink and ran it through my Big Shot on a piece of Vanilla CS.  I stamped the leaves in River Rock ink, fussy cut them out and sponged them with Summer Starfruit ink.  I tied them up with some old, old ribbon from a ribbon originals pack.  I think it's supposed to be Not Quite Navy, but it works nicely with the Midnight Muse.  Next, I mounted them on some Midnight Muse DP and added an antique brad.  Lastly, I added the sentiment.

Here's a list of supplies.....
Stamps: French Foliage, So Happy For You
Paper: Primrose Petals, Midnight Muse CS & DP, Summer Starfruit, Vanilla
Ink: Primrose Petals, River Rock, Summer Starfruit
Accessories: Antique Brad, Prep School ribbon originals, Lacy Brocade EF

Dynamic Duos #39 - Pink Pirouette and Pool Party

Good Saturday morning everyone!  It's Dynamic Duos Saturday again and this weeks combo is soft and pretty....Pink Pirouette and Pool Party.
For my card this week, I also used the sketch from Seize The Birthday #5.  The rules were to make a feminine birthday card.  These colors don't get much more feminine, so I thought it was a good match.  I flipped the sketch on it's side, too.
I started out with my new single stamp "Ears To You".  I also wanted to incorporate my Lattice die, so one panel got the die and pool party ribbon, and the other panel recieved some Pool Party designer paper.  For the main panel, I stamped the image in Pink Pirouette and cut a couple layers out with my Ovals Framelits dies.  Then I stamped the bunnies again in Pool Party on a scratch piece and cut the middle guy out.  I popped him up on dimentionals.  Lastly, I stamped the sentiment on a scratch piece, trimmed it and flag cut the ends.

Make sure you skip on over and see what the other Dynamic Duos Designers have done!

Here's a list of my supplies.....
Stamps: Ears To You
Paper: White, Pink Pirouette, Pool Party & Pool Party DP
Ink: Same as paper
Accessories: Ovals Framelits dies, Lattice die, Pool Party ruffled ribbon, Pool Party brad

Pink Cherry Scalloped Layers

This sweet little number is for Color Throwdown  #228, Freshly Made Sketches #72, and Try Stamping On Tuesday #104.  The two sketch are very similar, so I think this card qualifies for both!

My idea started with the layered scallops.  I cut strips of First Edition DP, trimmed them with the scallop edge punch and layered them on the bottom of the card.  I figured the whole background done in the scallops would be too much, so I added a scrap of gray hounds-tooth  to the top.  Next I concentrated on the flower.  I cut two of the big flowers from the Blossom Party die, as well as a couple of smaller ones.  I ran them through the Big Shot using my Lacy Brocade EF and crumpled them up to make them look kinda distressed. I layered them all together with a small, gray flower button, added some Cherry Cobbler seam binding ribbon and some gray pearls and this card was done!  Oh yeah, except for one thing....a little spritz of Champagne Shimmer spray.  It gave the whole card a bit of sparkle!  As you can see I substituted Cherry Cobbler for the Riding Hood Red.

Here's a list of my supplies.....
Stamps: none
Paper: Cherry Cobbler, Pink Pirouette, First Edition, and  Houndstooth & Scaringbone DP
Ink: None
Accessories: Cherry Seam Binding ribbon, Gray pearls, Neutrals button, Blossom Party die, Scallop Edge punch, Champagne Shimmer spray, Lacy Brocade EF

Beau Chateau Sympathy

This card takes in three challenges: still addINKtive #3, Fab Friday #11 sketch challenge, and The
Paper Players #131-Sympathy Theme.
I LOVED the color combo at still addINKtive and knew I wanted to play along....and I am making it just under the wire!!!  The Fab Friday sketch this week was, well, fab and I am alway in need of a sympathy card, so that was easy to incorporate, as well!  The swirled pink and suede paper is from the retired Beau Chateau pack and was a no brainer pick for these colors....the rest fell into place from there.

Here's a list of my supplies...
Stamps: Card Chatter-Sympathy (CTMH)
Paper: Pink Pirouette, River Rock, Soft Suede, Vanilla, Beau Chateau DP
Ink: River Rock, Soft Suede
Accessories: Honeycomb EF, Bird Builder punch, flower trim, Pink Pirouette gingham ribbon, pearls

Dynamic Duos #38 Valentine

It's Dynamic Duos Saturday!  Real Red and Pretty In Pink are the bold and sassy colors of the week!  Nothing says Valentine's Day more than this color combo, so was there any question as to what direction this card should go?  No!  I played with the Mojo Monday #278 sketch to go with this color combo.

I kept this card pretty clean and simple, with plenty of white space, which is usually not my thing.  After finishing it, I wasn't sure I liked it and kept thinking "what else can I add"?  My husband suggested that I leave it alone and go with it.  I find that if I sleep on it, I usually come back to the card and think that it actually isn't that bad.  I guess that's what I feel about this one.  It's not that bad...not my best, but not that bad.  It's cute and it will do for a nice valentine for someone.

My favorite part of this card is the heart embossing.  This is probably only the second time I've used that folder and I've had it for a whole year.  I'm glad to be getting some use out of supplies that don't see alot of spotlight time!

Make sure you visit the other Dynamic Duos Designers....there's lots and lots of inspiration from these ladies!
