Striped Poppy ~ CCMC417

Happy Thursday stampers!  It's Create with Connie and Mary challenge day!  This week is sketch week and look at this dandy!  It was a little perplexing to me at first.  My interpretation is looser this week.  I pretty much just went with the stripe theme.....and my stripes are running the opposite direction too.  I'm happy with my end result though!

I used a new set called {Penned and Painted}.  I think this will be a really cool set to do lots of experimenting with.  I can see all kinds of techniques used with this set.

For this card I stamped the images twice, fussy cut them all out and layered them together, curling up the edges of the top layer.  I was trying to make the flower resemble a poppy.
The stripes are stamped with the big background stamp called {Brushstrokes}.  Very cool.  I like how both of the stamps look watercolored although I  assure you there was none of that this go around.

I even had to find a way to include the little ladybug from the set...it's simply adorable!!!

I hope you'll find time to join us over at CCMC and participate in this interesting sketch challenge!
Thanks for taking a peek and have a blessed day!

Sponged Tiger Lilly ~ CCMC413

Hello Stampers!  Another Thursday has rolled around and it's time again for Create with Connie and Mary!  This week it's a cool sketch.  There are limitless possibility with this one!  I'm so excited to see what everyone comes up with.....I know our designers have been very diverse in their samples and each one is extraordinary!

For my card I wanted to mimic a designer paper from the Serene Scene designer paper stack.  I've seen a few people using it and it catches my eye every time.  I used my Timeless Texture stamp to re-create the look.  I started by stamping the "wood" piece in stamped off Pool Party ink.  I then sponged on some Soft Sky, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede and just a tad of So Saffron.  I also outlined the wood planks with a Soft Suede marker to make them look more realistic.
I then turned to the flower.  I chose the one that I think resembles a Tiger Lilly.  I inked the stamp stem with an Old Olive marker and then the flower itself with a Pumpkin Pie marker.  After I had the image outline, I sponged on Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie in the flower and Pear Pizzazz and Old Olive on the stem.  After I fussy cut it out I added just a bit of Soft Suede ink around the edges of the entire thing and added some of the "freckles" that Tiger Lillies have.
I layered it all on a distressed and sponged paper doily and a circle sponged with So Saffron, Pool Party, Crumb Cake and Soft Suede.
I used a greeting from Cottage Greetings for my sentiment and stamped that in Soft Suede ink after I had distressed and sponged the banner.

I hope you'll have time to play along with us this week!  I can't wait to see all the creations!
In the mean time, here's a list of my supplies.....
Stamps: Remarkable You, Cottage Greetings, Timeless Textures
Ink: Pool Party, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, So Saffron, Soft Sky, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Pear Pizzazz
Paper: Soft Suede, Very Vanilla
Accessories: Linen Thread, doily

Thanks for taking a peek and have a blessed day!

Playful Lilies ~ CCMC408

Well, well, well....here we are!  Another Create with Connie and Mary has rolled around and it's color challenge week!  I love a good color challenge and this one is so pretty!  These colors are soft and beautiful and were screaming out to me to be made into flowers!  LOL!
Believe it or not, this is a brand-new-to-me set.  I've hemmed and hawed around and admired many a card made with this {Remarkable You} set.  Finally, after seeing it was going to be around for at least another year (in the new catalog) I made the leap and ordered it.  Boy, am I glad I did!  It can go casual or more formal as well!
I watercolored the pair of Cala Lilies with my aquapainter and Blushing Bride ink.  I painted the stamen So Saffron.  The leaves were colored with Mint Macaron.  I fussy cut everything out and mounted it on a So Saffron Tag.  The whole thing is layered on a base of BRAND NEW designer paper from a stack called Playful Palette.  I just love this cool crosshatch/plaid black and cream pattern.

I also added a layer of Wink of Stella to each flower and the leaves.  It adds such an elegant sparkle.
Lastly I added a healthy sprinkling of black sequins and rhinestones.  I figured on giving this away as a wedding card, so the more sparkle the better! :)
The "Congrats" sentiment is from {Cottage Greetings}.

The whole thing is tied together with some Blushing Bride cotton ribbon.

I stamped the lillies again on the inside of the card and also the greeting "Wishing You Ridiculous Amounts of Happiness" from {Cottage Greetings}.

Here's a list of my supplies.....
Stamps: Remarkable You, Cottage Greetings
Ink: Stazon Black, Blushing Bride, So Saffron, Mint Macaron
Paper: watercolor, Blushing Bride, So Saffron, Black, Vanilla, Playful Palette DSP
Accessories: Metallic Sequins, Blushing Bride cotton ribbon, Rhinestones, Wink of Stella clear

Make sure to check out the other designers fab work at the CCMC site.
Thanks for taking a peek and have a blessed day!

Fresh Ridiculous Happiness ~ CCMC401

Hey stampers!  Today's Thursday....Create with Connie and Mary Thursday!  This week we have a sketch for you.

I needed a birthday card for a special girl and she happens to like sunflowers.  I think this little flower from {Cottage Greetings} is kinda sunflowerish.  I kept the card fairly clean and simple to show off the flower and sentiment.
I added the burlap ribbon because I think it compliments the rustic sunflower feel.  I think the Daffodil Delight and Watermelon Wonder colors combined with the white feel fresh too.

I hope you'll play along with us at Create with Connie and Mary this week!
Thanks for taking a peek and have a blessed day.

Funky Cup ~ CCMC389 & PP277, The Card Concept 46

Hello and welcome to another fabulous challenge week with Create with Connie and Mary!
We've got a sketch challenge for you this time....
I also used the color combo from The Paper Players 277 to complete my card and the inspiration photo from The Card Concept. I was inspired by the coffee cup and the heart shape. I guess my card would be considered clean and layered.

The moment I saw this Cups and Kettle framelits die set, I knew it would be mine!  I just love this cute coffee mug, plus all the other cutouts available in the set.
I cut the mug out from the Wildflower Fields DSP available through the Sale-a-bration catalog. With any $50 purchase paper pack can be yours!  Check it out here.

I created my own patterned background paper by punch some 1/2" circle from red foil paper and then adhering them to my Melon Mambo cardstock.  I love the way this looks!
To add an extra punch of pattern, I layered some Botanical Gardens Designer Vellum (also available in the Sale-a-bration) over my Tempting Turquoise horizontal pieces. I stamped the sentiment from {Cottage Greetings} with Stazon ink directly onto the vellum.
The steam and heart on the mug are also die cut from the Cups and Kettle framelits.  The little flower is from the Itty Bitty Accents punch pack and is finished off with a black sequin center from my Metallic Sequin Assortment.
For the steam I used the curly-cue die that is meant to be an embellishment on the tea cup.  I just cut it apart and layered it together to look like steam rising from the cup!

Mint & Gold Amazing Butterfly ~ CCMC361

Good Thursday Morning!  Today we have another fab sketch over at Create With Connie and Mary for you!

My card for today came together from scraps that didn't work for other projects.  I just love it when that happens.  The Night of Navy and gold polka-dot background piece has been laying on my desk for a few weeks now.  I loved it and knew I'd find the right project for it at some point.  The polka-dot pattern is an long since retired background stamp called {Distressed Dots}.  There is a very similar NEW background stamp in the 2015-16 catalog called {Dots for Days}.
Some of you may remember an inspiration photo that I had posted before and said I'd definitely be using it again, well here it is.....
Organic dot wallpaper in navy and gold || Juju Papers Wallpaper
I really fell in love with this look and couldn't wait to replicate it again!  I love the dark navy background with the gold polka-dots.
So then, I had these Mint Macaroon and Tip Top Taupe butterflies laying around just begging to be put on a card.  Isn't the Night of Navy/Mint Macaroon a very attractive color combination?  I think it just might be my new favorite!
I backed the Mint butterfly with a Gold Foil one cut with the Bold Butterfly Framelit.  Again, I'm so in love with this look!!!!

For the horizontal strip, I used Mint Macaroon and stamped it with the honeycomb pattern stamp from {Butterfly Basics}.  I had seen a post from Tenealle Williams where she stamped an image several times to achieve a different kind of texture.
By Teneale Williams | Stampin' Up! Artisan Blog Hop | Add Texture with Awesomely Artistic Stamp Set
That was my inspiration of the Mint horizontal piece.  I stamped it a few different times to try and achieve some different texture.
Lastly, I added some gold bakers twine and a gold embossed sentiment from another NEW set called {Cottage Greetings}.

Make sure you hop over to CCMC site and check out the other designers and their amazing work!  We love to hear from you!

Thanks for taking a peek and have a blessed day!
