Tropical Flamingo ~ CCMC421, FF94

Hello everyone!  It's time for another Create with Connie and Mary challenge!  This week is sketch week....
I also used a color combination from Fab Friday #94.  We could use any combination of the colors.  I chose Peekaboo Peach, Flirty Flamingo and Emerald Envy.

I went with a tropical theme and used the Botanical Builder Framelits.  I also stamped a flamingo from a retired set called {Flamingo Lingo}. There is a flamingo image in the current catalog with a stamp set called {Pop of Paradise}.  I don't own that one, so I used my old one.
I sponged Peekaboo Peach onto the punched circles and also sponged it onto the Irresistibly Floral specialty DSP.  It kinda reminded me of a pineapple, which keeps with the tropical theme.
I added a bit of sparkle with the rhinestones and horizontal strip.

I hope you'll join us this week!  Make sure you visit the CCMC home page and check out all the wonderful cards from the design team!
Thanks for taking a peek and have a blessed day!

The Friday Mashup + Me! FM207

Happy Friday everyone!  I am delighted to announce that I've been chosen to be one of May's guest designers by some awesome ladies over at The Friday Mashup!  I'm elated to get to work along side this wonderfully talented group.
Our challenge this week calls for you to use the sketch or use a retiring/retired/forgotten set....or do the mashup and combine both!

I used my {Flamingo Lingo} which I've loved since the first day I laid eyes on it way back last year!  This fun set just begs to be colored up in brights.  I also used a retired punch, Build a Blossom, to make the leaves on the palm tree.  I cut little notches out of each leaf to form the palms.
The other fun element to this card is that it's a shaker.  These are just a blast to make and so fun to receive!

Flamingo Lingo was the set that Stampin' Up had chosen last year as the Ronald McDonald House donation set.  What a wonderful thing....you get to buy cool, fun products and do a good deed at the same time.  As much as I'm going to miss this flamingo set, I did get a sneak peek at the new catalog today and the new Ronald McDonald House set.  Wow, is it ever cute!  It's got loads of versatility and It's definitely going straight to the top of my wish list!  I can't wait to get my hands on it and share projects with you!  It makes me giddy with excitement just thinking about it!

Thanks again to the gals over at The Friday Mashup for letting my hang out for the month!

Thanks for taking a peek!

Sunset Beach Flamingo ~ CMCC60 & PP233

Hi!  It's Wednesday again which brings us a bright, new Colour Me challenge!  This week we have a playful combo of Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo, Calypso Coral, and Daffodil Delight.  These are some REALLY fun colors!  I tend to struggle with more then two or three colors, so I love that this challenges me!  I decided I could combine the coral and yellow into a sunset and use the turquoise as water.  I figured it would be fun to throw the flamingo in there to tie in the melon color.  I'm very pleased with the way it turned out!  I also love that I was able to use the sketch from the Paper Players this week!

I sponged and sponged and then sponged some more on this card. The sky, water and sun are masked and sponged, and the starburst framelit behind the sunset scene is also sponged around the edges.  Then I sponged on some Calypso Coral to the Irresistibly Yours DSP.  I love how soft and subtle the colors look, yet they are still fun.  The only things that didn't get the sponge treatment are the flamingo, flower, and sentiment.

Here's a list of my supplies....
Stamps: Flamingo Lingo
Ink: Calypso Coral, Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight
Paper: Calypso Coral, White, Irresistibly Yours DSP
Accessories: 1" circle punch, Circle Framelits, Starburst Framelits, Bitty Banner die, Standard hole punch, Petite Petals punch

For Bob ~ Retro Sketches 138

I made this card for my great nephew, Bob, who turns 4 today!  I wanted to make something quick and easy and also something that would please a little boy.  I found this sketch over at Retro Sketches this week.....

I started out with some retired birthday paper that I had in my stash and pulled the colors from there.  I thought they were very boyish.  Then I turned to my go-to little boy stamp set, I Dig You.
I added buttons and circles for embellishments, highlighting the number four.

I'm sure he'll enjoy his card....well just about as much as a four year old can, I guess!

Here's a list of my supplies.....
Stamps: I Dig You, Flamingo Lingo
Paper: Just Add Cake DSP, Marina Mist, White, Garden Green
Ink: Marina Mist, Pumpkin Pie, So Saffron, Garden Green
Accessories: Brights buttons, Circle punches, Large silver brads, Itty Bitty Banners die, bakers twine
