Fusion Deer

 

Not only did I have time to stamp today, I also had the inspiration to get something done!  After the holidays I crashed for a few days.  I spent one whole day doing absolutely nothing but watch one movie after another.  It was wonderful!  I did some stamping for classes and others before the holidays, but didn't get any of the cards photographed before I gave them away.....hence my absence from blogging. 

I was browsing around the internet for challenges today and found that Fusion Challenge is still up from a couple of weeks ago. 

I loved the inspiration photo so much and wanted to do something with the deer stamp. 

 I love this stamp soooo much!  I've made many cards with it so far, and my favorite technique is to use heat and stick powder and glitter.  I love this image with some sparkle!  Since Christmas is over, I wanted to go into a masculine birthday sort of direction.  I know that glitter isn't very masculine, but I just can't help myself.  It just look so cool!

 

 

The Natural Chevron ribbon is a new product from the Spring Catalog.  It's pretty neat!

Neutral Thoughts

I needed a quick sympathy card today, and here it is.  I searched around for sketch inspiration and came up with The Paper Players 130.

I started off with scraps that were on my desk....again!  The Crumb Cake background paper was used on my last project, as well as part of the main image.  For the card in my last post, I cut out the center "heartfelt" piece from the Layered Labels set.  For this card I used the outside of the stamped piece, sponged it with some Crumb Cake, and layered it over a vanilla scrap I stamped with the "Your In My Thoughts" sentiment.  I popped it up with dimensionals to give it some extra interest.

I thought there was space that needed to be filled in under the sentiment, so I grabbed the new Designer Builder Brads and some linen thread.  

In my last post, which was for the Dynamic Duos color challenge, I mentioned that I had a hard time putting together a card with the neutral challenge colors.  Today, with basicly the same color scheme, it came together in a snap.  It's funny how some things work out!

Monochromatic ~ DD37

It's Dynamic Duos Saturday and this week is our Monochromatic Challenge!  This week's colors are Soft Suede and Crumb Cake.  

Now, normally I'm all over colors like this.  This week I had a mental block for some reason.  I searched and searched for inspiration.  I've actually used this color combo several times in the past.  I actually started by punching out a bunch of hearts out of scrap cardstock, temporarily glued them to a piece of Soft Suede and sprayed the whole thing with my Shimmer Spritz spray.  It was pretty, but still no real good ideas as of what to do with it.  Then, my box of goodies Stampin' Up goodies arrived......

I ended up using a bunch of new supplies like the Honeycomb EF, Paper Doily, Vanilla Flower Trim, Oval Framelits, and Print Poetry DP.  Once I had all my supplies figured out, I searched for a sketch to use.  I found Try Stampin On Tuesday #102.  Super!  It was a match made in heaven!  Once I got it all figured out, the card came together in a snap!  What about the Shimmer Spritzed Soft Suede piece, you ask?  Well, I trimmed it down and used it as the center background piece.  You have to look real close to tell that there are hearts on it (they ended up mostly covered up).   

I'm really in love with the Flower Trim, especially when I saw others cutting the flowers off the strip and dying them with regular ink!  That's what I did here.  I just pressed the flower into my Crumb Cake ink and this is what resulted!  My flower was colored on mostly just the tips, but it you want your flower totally saturated with color, mist it with water.  This will allow the ink to penetrate further into the fabric and create a solid colored flower.  I'm anxious to display that technique on future cards!

The paper doilies are stark white, so I sponged some Crumb Cake onto this one to soften it up some.

Layered Inspiration - OCC, PP114, & SRC143

 

Wow, I need to find me some more time to stamp!  I am starting some fall adult ed classes in a couple weeks, so that's gonna force me (plus I get paid!) to get some stamping done! 

This card is for Our Creative Corner Photo Inspiration Challenge and The Paper Players Sketch Challenge 114. It also qualifies for the Stampin' Royalty Challenge 143 which wants us to use our Big Shot & diecuts. 

 

I mainly focused on colors for my inspiration in the OCC challenge.  They did ask that we used polkadots and at least 2 buttons somewhere on the project.....I got the polkadots down, but only 1 button.  I tried and tried to figure out how to get another button on there, but putting one or more on there just seemed like too much!  So, I didn't quite meet the requirements.  I really like the end results anyway! 

I havn't had a chance to play with The Paper Players for a long time, so I was happy to use this fun sketch.  I inked the three stips of cardstock with versamark ink and embossed them with clear EP for a little extra texture and interest. 

 

 

I cut two flowers with the smallest die in the Floral Frames Framelits, crumpled them and layered them together.  I cut a small circle of Summer Starfruit and glued it onto the back of the button, so you could see some extra color behind the button.  Next, I wove a little snippit of Pool Party through the button to add the third color.  The whole thing is layed on a bow made of bakers twine.

Vintage Layered Labels - CCMC212, JUGS148, & FM69

Oh my, I am in love with this card!  And, the fact that it takes in THREE challenges makes me giddy!!!  :)  This card includes Create with Connie and Mary Challenge 212, Just Us Girls Challenge 148, & The Friday Mashup 69. 

I started out with the concept from The Friday Mashup, which was to create a vintage project and add a pin.  I've never used a pin on my cards before, so this was a new one for me.  I decided the vintage colors I'd use would be from Create with Connie and Mary, only I don't have any Sahara Sand so I subbed in Crumb Cake.  Next, I used the sketch from Just Us Girls.  This card came together fairly fast, believe it or not!  It looks like there's a bunch of stuff going on, but once I put all three challenges together it just took shape!

The sponging, ribbons, and the crumpled flower, along with the main image scream vintage.  I added in the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder (what else would you use for a vintage project???) and the flocked designer paper from the Mocha Morning pack to the backround for more, more, and more vintage.  There is a little strip of black satin ribbon separating the two backround layers, but that's kinda hard to see in the photos.
