Christmas Coffee with a Birdie ~ SSC113

Good Wednesday everyone!  Today's card is for Sunday Stamps challenge 113.
I was completely inspired by the picture of the mugs and tea (or coffee....I prefer coffee!)

I was also inspired by this cool, vintage feeling picture I found on Pinterest.  The artist is named Steve Mack.
Comfort and Joy! by mrmack, via Flickr:

He's got some other styles similar to this one and I'll be featuring at least a couple other cards inspired by his work in the future, so stay tuned!
I love the simplicity of his drawings, which translates easily into punch art!

Basically this card uses a variety of circle and oval punches.  I hand cut the triangle elements, as well as the steam.

The sentiment on the inside of from an older set from Close To My Heart.

Thanks for taking a peek and have a blessed day!

Get Well Skyler ~ RS56

This card was made especially for a brave young lady who is having some medical issues.  I just wanted her to know we were thinking of her and perhaps give her a little chuckle.  I used Retro Sketches 56 to help me out with this card.

I wanted to use my Howdy set from Close To My Heart.  It's so cute and has some fun sentiments to go with the images.  Even though the main image is a cow, I wanted to make the card a little girly, so I did that by adding feminine accents.

I think the words on the inside are my favorite!

Here's a list of supplies.....
Stamps: Howdy
Paper: Primrose Petals, Black, Basic Gray, Vanilla, Scaringbone & Howlingtooth DP
Ink: VersaMark, Gray, Blushing Bride, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Black, Primrose Petals
Accessories: Chevron EF, Fabric Flower trim, 1/4" black ribbon, Satin Primrose Petals ribbon, Scallop border punch, Designer Frames EF, Oval cutting system, Oval and Scallop Oval punches, Owl builder punch (tiny heart), rhinestones

It's Your Day Marigolds ~ RS55 & CQC181

This card is for Retro Sketches 55 & Colour Q Challenge 181.  I've been wanted to stamp with blue colors lately and havn't had the chance until now.  I like the combo of blue and yellow, and it looks so cool with the addition of  black.  I don't have any Brilliant Blue or Brocade Blue, so I used Pacific Point and Marina Mist.
I used a set from Close To My Heart called Flower Pot.  I've had it for a couple years and this is the first time I've used this image.  It's cute though!  After I decided on a stamp, I went to my paper stash and chose the theme of polka dots.  I love the Polka Dot Parade DP.
I stamped the flowers and pot on watercolor paper, colored it with a blender pen and markers and cut them out.  I layered them on a piece of white that I embossed with the big dot EF.  I popped the flowers up with a dimentional.  The flowers were topped off with some rhinestones.

Here's a list of supplies....
Stamps: Flower Pot (CTMH)
Paper: Pacific Point, Marina Mist, Daffodil Delight, White, Watercolor, Polka Dot Parade DP
Ink: Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point, Marina Mist, Stazon Black
Accessories: Big Dot EF, Rhinestones, Scallop Border punch, Black Grosgrain ribbon

A Splendid Plane for NAC35

This fun little card is for Nacho Average Challenge 35.  Last week I had told myself that I was going to play along with the nachos this week no matter what.  When I saw the sketch I was stumped.  It took a lot of thought before I finally came up with something that I liked.  I'm really pleased with the outcome, too!  Here's the kicker...I've missed the deadline AGAIN!  I really need to get that all straightened out.  This is the second time I've done that with the Nachos now.  Bummer.

Warm Heart ~ PP128 & RS46

This card combines challenges for The Paper Players and Retro Sketches.
The Paper Players had a really fun color combo that I knew I had to try when I saw it!  I'm cutting it down to the wire with both challenges, but I'm glad I got time to play!  Retro Sketches seemed very clean and simple this week, but leaves plenty of room for creativity!
I have this cute little set from Close To My Heart called A Sip, and I thought it work nicely for these challenges. At one point in time, a really good friend of mine did her kitchen in cobalt blue and yellow.  We loved to have coffee together as often as possible at each others house.  For her birthday one year, I found this little print that had a coffee pot and cup in these very colors and it had the words "coffee, you and me" on it.  She loved it.  That was the image that I had conjured up in my mind when I made this card. I think I will give this card to her and I know she'll be reminded of that little print that I gave her years ago.  Although her kitchen colors have changed, she still keeps the little framed print sitting in her window sill.

I have to say that I really love Pacific Point more that I thought I would.  I originally got a pack of the paper to do a little boy project and was surprised at how versatile this color can be.  I need to use it more, for sure!  I also love it when paired with Daffodil Delight.  I'm also in love with this Daffodil Delight polka dot paper.  It's the first time I've used it, but I've admired it on others projects for some time now.  I'm a sucker for anything polka dot when it comes to card making.  The gray paper is from a piece I purchased at Hobby Lobby way back when.

Here's a list of my supplies.....
Stamps: A Sip (CTMH)
Paper: Pacific Point, White, Polka Dot Parade DP, Gray scrap from Hobby Lobby, Daffodil Delight
Ink: Basic Gray, Pacific Point
Accessories: Daffodil Delight 1/4" ribbon, Three Heart punch, Rhinestones, Big Designer button

Thanks for taking a peek and have a super day!
Call up a friend and say let's have coffee!  That's what I'm gonna do!!!

Merry Monday 44 & Mojo Monday 275

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree!  I stated in an earlier post that I didn't get enough of making Christmas cards this season, so I'm glad to have Merry Monday to be able to create all year long!  This weeks challenge was a color one, so I combined it with Mojo Monday Sketch #275.  It's been ages since I've played over at Mojo Monday.

Before I started this card, I glanced down at my scrap paper pile and saw two patterned papers laying there.  The red wood-grain from the Frostwood Lodge collection and Island Indigo In-color strip.  Ah-ha!  There's my starting point, I thought!  I searched my stamps to find a fun set to match with the papers.  I came up with Close To My Heart's Evergreen set, which I hadn't have a chance to play with the year yet.  Perfect!  You might be able to tell, but I tweeked the colors a bit.  I used Cherry Cobbler instead of Real Red and Cool Carribean instead of Pool Party.

Here's a list of supplies.....
Stamps: Evergreen
Paper: White, Island Indigo, Cool Carribean, Frostwood Lodge DP, Incolor DP
Ink: Cool Carribean, Cherry Cobbler, Versa Mark
Accessories: Iridescent Ice EP, Cherry Cobbler ribbon, Scallop Square Duo die, Snowflake and Polka  dot EF, Northern Frost Decorative Strip die

Country Christmas ~ DD31

Today marks the 4th week I have been a designer over at Dynamic Duos.   Wow, time really flies!  It seems like I was just chosen the other day.  This weeks challenge is to use Real Red and Certainly Celery.  My sketch inspiration this week comes from Freshly Made Sketches #63.

Certainly Celery used to be my very favorite green to play with in my cards, but since Pear Pizzaz arrived on the scene, it has taken over first place.  It was fun to dig out the older color and use it again!  I wanted to play around with the bleaching technique, so I embossed the holly in white on Crumb Cake CS, bleached out the image and used my blender pen to put the Certainly Celery and Real Red onto the leaves and holly berries.  What a fun technique.  The addition of Crumb Cake, along with the corduroy button, gingham DP, and the linen thread, gives the whole thing a country chistmas kind of feel.

Check out the other Dynamic Duos Designers!
 Here's a list of supplies.....
Stamps: Watercolor Winter, Peace On Earth (CTMH)
Paper: Real Red, Crumb Cake, White, Certainly Celery, Polka Dot Parade & Pawsitively Prints II DP
Ink: Craft White, Certainly Celery, Real Red
Accessories: Spellbinders labels 3 die, Corduroy button, White EP, Big Dots EF, Linen Thread, Wide Celery Stipped Grosgrain ribbon

Thanks for taking a peek and have a great day!

Lovely Trees Sympathy ~ RS35

This card is for Retro Sketches #35
I pretty much took the sketch literally and used trees.  I just bought this Lovely as a Tree set not too long ago and thought it was fitting.  I've also been on a bit of a vellum kick lately.  I really havn't used it in years, so it's fun to pick it back up again and play around.  I stamped the tree image in Black Stazon ink, then added the sky and grass colors with chalk and a dauber.  I've been in need of so many sympathy cards lately (unfortunately), so I've been trying to make a variety of masculine and faminine ones.  This one would be for a man because of the blue tones.  I used the new in-color Midnight Muse (which I love!) and Baja Breeze, plus a splash of Crumb Cake.

Here's a list of my supplies....
Stamps: Lovely As A Tree, Card Chatter Sympathy (CTMH)
Paper: Midnight Muse, Baja Breeze, Crumb Cake, White, Vellum
Ink: Black Stazon
Accessories: chalks, Provo Craft EF, Adorning Accents Edgelits, Paper Piercing Essentials pack, Silver brads

Thanks for taking a peek and have a super-duper day!!!

Triple Time Duos - DD26

This card is for Dynamic Duos Challenge 26 using So Saffron and More Mustard.   I neglected to write down the colors and had it in my head that it was So Saffron and Summer Starfruit.....Sooooo, that's what my card is.  So Saffron and Summer Starfruit.  I'm gonna go ahead and link it to the challenge anyway, even though the colors aren't quite right, but hey, they're similar!  This card also fits into the Try Stampin' On Tuesday Sketch Challenge 89.  I used the Triple Time Stamping Technique for the sketch part.  There is a great tutorial on Dawn Olchefske's website.

When I first started putting this card together, I was only using Vanilla and Starfruit as my layers....I didn't like it.  I added  a very small black layer and added the black sentiment and voila!  The whole thing came alive!  It was pretty dull before.  I hated this card while it was in the making, but it is growing on me!

Here's a list of supplies....
Stamps: Fabulous Florets, Card Chatter-sympathy (CTMH)
Paper: Summer Starfruit, Black, Vanilla
Ink: Summer Starfruit, So Saffron, Black
Accessories: Vintage Faceted button, Starfruit & Saffron ribbon, Gold thread.

Aged Denim Sympathy - RS30 & CR84FN63

Today's card is for Retro Sketches 30 and CR84FN63
I loved the simple nature of this sketch and was excited to use the color combo with it!  My other inspiration for this card was a backround from a game on my iPad called Glass Tower.  When I saw the brown and tan swirled backround on the game, I knew I wanted to use it sometime on a card.  This sketch and color combo happened to be the perfect match for that!!!

Here's a list of supplies I used....
Stamps: Everything Eleanor, Card Chatter-Sympathy (CTMH)
Paper: Marina Mist, Chocolate Chip, Crumb Cake
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Sahara Sand, Early Espresso (sponging)
Accessories: Bird Builder Punch (leaves), Itty Bitty Punch Pack (flower), Scallop Eyelet Border Punch, Pearls

16th Birthday Mojo

I made this card for my son who just turned 16.  It also happens to fit into the Mojo Monday Sketch 249.  :)

Masculine cards are hard for me, but a masculine teen card......whoa, that's a challenge.  I think he appreciated the fact that I put the time into making him a special card and it fits him because he like to play guitar.  He's a big fan of the color red, so I looked for patterned paper that was on the boyish side.  I came up with the Poppy DP from Sunny Days collection and the Torquoise is from Patterned Paws collection.

Here's a list of other supplies I used.....
Stamps: You Rock (Close To My Heart), Perfect Words
Paper: Black, Tempting Torquoise & Poppy Parade DP, First Edition DP
Ink: Tempting Torqoise, Cool Carribean, Poppy Parade, Black
Accessories: Poppy ribbon, Paper Piercing Pack Essentials, Black Mini Gems, Notebook Tab punch

American Made - JUGS141

Just Us Girls' Challenge 141 is a red, white and blue color challenge.
I've seen these 3-D stars around different places and always wondered how they were made.  While browsing Pinterest the other day I stumbled upon a tutorial on how do make them and boy is it simple!  I got this idea to make a flag card, and then I saw the JUGS challenge.  What a perfect match!  I love it when things work out like that!

Because this card is so simple and has little for embelishments, I embossed the blue square in a big polka-dot EF and the red strips in the Square Lattice EF.  With the 3-D star, this adds texture and visual interest.  I added a sentiment from Close To My Heart.

Stamps: You're a Star (CTMH)
Paper: Night of Navy, Real Red, White
Ink: Night of Navy
Accessories: Stars #2 Die, Polka-dot & Square Lattice EF
