On My Mind ~ Fusion, JAI267, CTC35

Hey everyone!  I hope your having a great Saturday so far!  I have a fun card to share today...I just love this new set from the 2015-16 Catalog called {That Thing You Did}!  I especially love this saying...it just makes me laugh!  I actually made this card for my good friend who recently lost her dad and I wanted to do something to lighten her mood.  I think this did the trick!  I think you can't help but laugh at this saying!
I combined a couple different challenges with this card.....
For the Fusion Challenge, I incorporated the inspiration photo colors and the turquoise butterfly, plus the sketch.
For Casing the Catty, this weeks challenge is to use the Thank You section of the new catalog as inspiration...I used the the card in the upper right-hand corner on page 13 as my inspiration.

Lastly, Just Add Ink calls us to just add typography.  I'd say this saying qualifies!

Stained Glass Butterfly ~ FM208

Hey everyone, it's Friday!  This is my second week as a guest designer at The Friday Mashup for the month of May.  This week's challenge is to create a Mother's Day card and use recycled/upcycled items.  For mine I used a recycled mother-of-pearl button (which I thought was appropriate for Mother's Day!) and I also upcycled packaging tape to make the stained glass look on the butterfly cut-out.
I also used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches 185.

The stained glass technique is so cool and fun....and easy!  It produces some flashy results too! Here's a great video by LeeAnn Greff on how to do the Stained Glass Technique.

I just love all the sparkle this produces!!!!
Be sure to visit the Friday Mashup DT and leave them some blog love!

Sunflower & Butterfly ~ CMCC66

Happy Wednesday everyone!  It's time for a new Colour Me challenge.  This week we have the cheery duo of Marina Mist and Daffodil Delight.
As I was searching my stash of DSP for this polka dotted pattern, I came across a bit of yellow gingham.  Don't you just love a polka dot/gingham combination?!?  It's so country.  After finding my paper, I decided on a sunny sunflower and fun butterfly to compliment the papers.  I used an old Sizzix die called Daisies #2.  I cut two flowers and sponged the tips.  I added a circle of Early Espresso and another little circle of Baked Brown Sugar polka dotted DSP to complete the flower's center.  I added the pleasant little blue butterfly from {Kinda Eclectic}.  I thought the crosshatch pattern on the butterfly complimented the gingham and polka dots.

I used a pretty basic sketch that's been seen lots and lots but never gets old!  I used a bit of Fancy Foil Vellum for my large banner.  I didn't want to cover up the gingham too much!  A little bit of doily, some gold sequins (to tie in the gold vellum) and some pearls on the butterfly body complete this summery little number!

Make sure to stop by the blogs of my fellow CM designers. You will have tons of inspiration!!!!

Whew!  I couldn't decide if  there was too much going on here or if it all worked together and was pleasing to the eye....well, I decided it was pleasing to MY eye anyway!

Tangelo Monarch ~ CMCC61

It's Colour Me Wednesday!!!!  We have Tangelo Twist plus a neutral for you this week.  You'll see if you check out the Colour Me blog that many of us designers went the butterfly route!  Well, you know what they say, great minds think alike!  The fun thing is that they are all so different!

I started with this big, beautiful butterfly die, cut out with black cardstock.  I then traced the outline of the butterfly onto a piece of vellum and cut it out by hand.  I used my orange blendabilites markers and colored the wings.  Once I glued the butterfly together, I put the white dots on the edges of the wing with my white gel pen.  The white background is a bit of the leaf Irresistibly Yours DSP with no color added to it.  It's hard to see it in the photo, but it adds a bit of texture in real life.  I also pierced the black oval frame which you can see better in the photo below.
The sentiment is from a retired set called {Vintage Verses}.
The background paper is from the Back To Black DSP pack and reminded me of a lattice fence.
A few rhinestones finish off this beauty of a butterfly!

Here's a list of my supplies....
Stamps: Vintage Verses
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Pumpkin Pie Blendabilites, white gel pen
Paper: Tangelo Twist, Back to Black & Irresistibly Yours DSP, Vellum
Accessories: Oval framelits, Butterfly thinlits die, Rhinestones

One Layer Butterflies ~ PP142

This card is for The Paper Players clean and simple one layer card.

Eeeek!   1: clean and simple is not my thing.   2: one layer is not my thing.  I really wanted to participate in this challenge to push myself!  I played off of a scrap page from Bobbie Trost that I thought was amazing.  She used punched butterflies on her page, but I couldn't so I chose one of the butterflies from the Best of Butterflies set I just purchased.  Now, this is by far NOT my favorite butterfly in the bunch, but it's the smallest and best for the look I wanted to achieve.  I went through many-a-white pieces trying to get the flow of the butterflies just right.  This is probably the fifth or sixth incarnation of this card.  After I got the butterflies to the point where I was satisfied (notice I didn't say happy) with them, I added the sentiment.  I figured this one went along with the butterfly theme, and I could also use it for a graduation card if I have to.  (You know, spread your wings and take flight, you've got your whole life ahead of you, type of feeling.....that fits into graduation, right???)  Here's the kicker.  After I stamped the sentiment, I SMEARED IT!  Ahhhhhhh!  I was so upset, but it was too late to go back now.  Under normal circumstances I would re-stamp it onto scrap paper, punch it out and adhere it over the original image....not this time.  Not in a one layer challenge.  Oh well, I guess it's not too noticable.  To finish this baby off I ran it throught the tulip border EF and added some lines above and below the sentiment with my score tool.  Lastly, I dotted a few of the butterflies with bling.  Whew, now that was a challenge for me!  Give me layers any day!!!!

Here's a list of my supplies....
Stamps: Word Play, Best of Butterflies
Paper: White
Ink: Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Wild Wasabi, Pacific Point, Rich Razzleberry, Black
Accessories: Tulip Border EF, Score Tool, Rhinestones

A Little Something Different - CTD198 & CCMCNE2

This card combines Color Throwdown 198 & Create With Connie & Mary-NC2.  Although I'm not a subscriber to the CCMC-NC2, I still wanted to use the sketch because it's a little unusual and sometimes it's fun to push yourself.  Actually, the color combo stretched me somewhat too.  Tangerine and Coral would never be two colors I'd put together, let alone throwing Gray and Pool Party into the mix!  I can feel myself stretching just talking about it!!

  2012 Create New Edition-003

The inspiration photo from CTD is fun and beachy, but I chose to go a different route and used the butterfly image from Kindness Matters, only because I haven't had a chance to play with it much.  I spritzed the main panel of butterflies with my shimmer spray.  I wish it showed up better in the pictures....it's just so darn hard to photograph.  It's my go-to accessory when I want to glam anything up.  It adds alot of bang for your buck!

Here's a complete list of supplies.....
Stamps: Kindness Matters, Just Believe
Paper: Basic Gray, Calypso Coral, Tangerine Tango, Pool Party, Variety of DP
Ink: Stazon Black, Pool Party, Tangerine Tango, Calypso Coral
Accessories: Designer Frames EF, Oval Cutting System, Vintage Wallpaper EF, Shimmer Spray, Calypso Coral 1/8" Organdy ribbon

Ghosting Butterfly - FM55 & OCC

Today's card is a combo of the Friday Mashup 55 and Our Creative Corner
FM55 calls for using a sketch and the ghosting technique.  There is a link to the techniqe over at the Friday Mashup blog.  OCC's challenge was to use butterflies.  The inspiration picture showed butterflies in many colors, and I chose to use blue, green and yellow in the form of Island Indigo, Pear Pizzaz and Daffodil Delight.

Like I said in my last post, I'm concentrating on graduation cards, so this will go to my niece who is graduating from Jr. High in a few weeks.  I think its just sweet enough for a girl her age, plus she loves bright colors with her favorite being yellow.
Here's a list of supplies I used.....
Stamps: Paisly Backround, Tender Tags from CTMH
Paper: Island Indigo, Pear Pizzaz, Daffodil Delight, White
Ink: Craft White, Pear Pizzaz
Accessories: Martha Stewart butterfly punch, basic jewels, dotted scallop border punch, in color brad, daffodil 1/8" ribbon, corner rounder punch, scallop border punch, square lattice EF

Framelits For You *MOJO 221*

Today's card comes from Mojo Monday Sketch 221.

I chose to use the round sketch, something I hardly ever do.  In fact, I think I've only made one or two round cards in my stamping life!  What fun though!  I teach an adult ed stamping class at our local high school and I think this will be one of the cards we make in the class coming up.
Here are the supplies I used.....

Ink: Riding Hood Red, Stazon Black
