Simply Soft Do Over - OCC & DD12

Gee, I had fun creating this card for Our Creative Corner and Dynamic Duos 12.

Over at OCC this week, it's all about do-overs.  I loved the concept of this challenge and was all over it as soon as I read about it.  I browsed through my older photos and found this card....
On my old card I used the Simply Soft stamp set from Stampin' Up.  It's a super easy set to make fabulous cards with, so how could I go wrong???  This card was wrong for me in so many ways.  I hated the torn oval behind the main panel, I wished I would have mounted the backround DP on a peice of regular cardstock, and I wasn't happy with the ribbon.  And don't get me started on those flowers!!!  So, I was thrilled to get the chance to makeover this card!  I thought the DD12 Challenge colors would be perfect to do the makeover with.  I love the way the Poppy Parade "pops" against the black.  I had also seen a tutorial on YouTube a while ago where the gal used the layered marker technique on this set and it looked so neat, so I knew I wanted to do that too.  I colored in the flower petals with Blushing Bride first, then came back over them with Poppy Parade.  I'm so much happier with my do-over card and am glad OCC had this challenge!

Here's a list of supplies I used.....
Stamps: Simply Soft, Just Believe
Paper: Poppy Parade, Black, White, Sunny Days DP
Ink: Poppy Parade, Blushing Bride, Certainly Celery, Lucky Limeade, Stazon Black
Accessories: Framelits Labels die, Scallop Polkadot ribbon, Word Window & Modern Label punches, button, bakers twine, rhinestones

Olive Happy Hour - FMS44 & CTD201

I absolutely love this new set from Stampin' Up called Happy Hour.  It's got so many cute images.  I'm not a big drinker, (maybe a glass of wine every now and then and even then it has to be sweet), but they've made all these fun little images that are soooooo fun to play with.  I'm sending this card to my baby brother, who turns 24 this month.  He likes drinks like this and he lives 2,000 miles away from me, so I think this whole thing is appropriate for him.  Plus, the colors and style feel a little masculine maybe.

Here's a list of supplies......
Stamps: Happy Hour
Paper: Riding Hood Red, More Mustard, Gumball Green, So Saffron DP
Ink: So Saffron, Gumball Green, Riding Hood Red
Accessories: Circle cutter, Circles #2 die, Button die, Rhinestones, Riding Hood Red ribbon. White string

A Lot Going On - MOJO250 & CR84FN59

Ok, this is my second post for today, but I had to because this card plays along with Mojo Monday 250 and the challenge closes tonight.  The other challenge this one encompasses is CR84FN 59 color challenge.

There is alot going on on this card. Ribbons, brads, punches, pearls, die cuts, fussy cutting, designer paper, dimentionals and stamped images...oh my!  I'm not a clean and simple kind of girl, but this is a little much for me also.  I was trying to follow the sketch and got caught up in all these different elements!  Oh well.  I completed my task and someone will really appreciate receiving this card, I'm sure.  The photograph is sort of distorting the true color of the cardstock versus the designer paper versus the ribbon.  It looks much more color coordinated in real life.

Here's a list of supplies I used....
Stamps: Everything Eleanor, Tiny Tags
Paper: Crumb Cake, Calypso Coral, Soft Suede, Very Vanilla, In Color DP
Ink: Soft Suede, Calypso Coral
Accessories: Floral Frames die, 1 3/4" Circle punch, Antique Brad, Basic Pearls, Square Punch (for flag ends on banners) 1/8" Coral Organdy ribbon

So Hoppy For You - CCMC210 & FM68

2012 Create Challenges-026
The colors for CCMC210 are Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, So Saffron and Pool Party, and the Friday Mashup calls for us to use the sketch but also use a summertime theme.  When I saw this color combo, I immediately knew the stamp set I wanted to use and that was A Flower For All Seasons.  This cute watering can with flowers and little toad are so sweet and cute and doesn't it say summertime?  Especially paired with the gingham designer paper background.  I don't have any stamps that have a "froggy" sentiment, so "so happy for you" was about as close as I could get.  To tie the summery flower element together I embossed the gingham background with my Elegant Bouquet embossing folder and then added a simple little punched flower to the main panel and tag.   The main panel is popped up with dimensionals and then I faux stitched around the edges for a little something extra.

Here's a list of supplies I used......
Stamps: A Flower For All Seasons, So Happy For You
Paper: Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler, So Saffron, Very Vanilla, Pawsatively Prints DP
Ink: Stazon Black, Watercolor pencils, So Saffron
Accessories: Blender pen, Three Flower punch, Circle punch, Square punch (for flag end on banner), Elegant Bouquet EF, Paper Piercing tool & Mat Pack, White Gel Pen

Five Petal Build a Blossom - CQC146 & SSC265

Today's card comes to you from Colour Q 146, and Saturday Sketch Challenge 265 over at the Stamping 411 Blog.

Colour Q wants us to use Red, Pear, Kraft, Black and White.  I used a minimal amount of kraft.  The center of the flower is inked with Crumb Cake and I sponged some more Crumb Cake around the tiny banner.  I love the red, green and black together.  I also got a chance to play with my new Polka Dot Parade DP.  It's all so cute!  I love, love, love polka dots.

Here's a list of supplies I used....
Stamps: Build a Blossom
Paper: Black, White, Polka Dot Parade and In Color DP
Ink: Real Red, Pear Pizzaz, Crumb Cake, Black
Accessories: Build a Blossom Punch, Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch, Square Lattice EF, Framelits Labels die, Framelits Bitty Banners die

Cupcake Calm - NAC3, PP104, & JAI127

Today's card comes by way of Nacho Average Challenge #3, Just Add Ink #127, & The Paper Players 104.  I'm a little to late for the party over at The Paper Players, but oh well!
NAC3
I used the sketch from NAC3, the color combo from JAI127 (which I added Melon Mambo as my 3rd color), main element from PP104 which challenged us to use words as the main element and keep the project clean and simple.  CAS is a hard concept for me.  I've mentioned this before and I know I'll never be one of those girls that can stamp on element on a white card and call it good.  I need to have some sort of embellishment and some color.  This is about at CAS as I get and with that I still needed to add a little glitter to the cupcake.

This card could totally be for someone who is having one of those milestone birthdays.  I just celebrated my 40th and I know I would have loved to receive one like this!  As a matter of fact, my SIL gave me this stamp set for my birthday!
Here's a list of supplies I used on this card.....
Stamps: Carry On
Paper: Whisper White, Black, Black and Melon Mambo DP
Ink: Black, Melon Mambo and Crumb Cake
Accessories: Big Designer button, Black Bakers Twine, Top Note die, Dazzling Diamonds glitter

SSC68 & SSC246

When I first looked at the Stamping 411 Sketch, I wasn't sure what I'd do....this one perplexed me.  I started with the Everything Eleanor stamp set, because it's one of my new ones, and stamped the big tag on the vanilla piece and everything just fell into place from there!  Sometimes all it takes is finding one element to use as a jump off point and you're off and running!

Here's a list of my supplies.....
Stamps: Everything Eleanor, Card Chatter-birthday (CTMH)
Paper: Rose Red, Soft Suede, Very Vanilla, Mocha Morning DP
Ink: Crumb Cake, Soft Suede
Accessories: Swirly EF, Beautiful Wings embosslits, Soft Suede taffeta ribbon, basic pearls
